Some squirrels gathering up fallen stars.This image originally started out as a little doodle that I found on an old hard drive. Trying out more storybook-style illustrations.

Have you ever read the Mistmantle Chronicles???? this would seriously be like a perfect illustration for it XD because the main characters are squirrels (red squirrels, btw) and they have falling stars~ Something important always happens before, during, or after the falling stars <333 wonder what would happen here?
i'm assuming a grand dinner with the star as the main dish, lol~ are they inviting the hedgehog??? XD

Never read that book o__o Might have to go and do so now actually.. Sounds pretty cool. The only book with squirrels in it that I read was the Silver Tide back when I was in secondary school.
And I'm not sure why they are hoarding the stars.. The orignal sketch actually had them hanging the stars from the branches of the tree to decorate the tree, but then keeping the squirrels at a decent size in the picture and having a branch low-lying enough just.. didn't work. So I changed it to them gathering up the stars in a hole lower down the tree

You should definitely read them! They're really good, and they have a different illustration for each chapter <3 normally having to do with either squirrels, hedgehogs, otters, or moles~ and some swans, i think XD i've read most if not all of them, and they're really interesting. The animals live in houses (but they're still regular animal size, so their houses are tiny, and normally made from nature... like the tree in your picture) and they wear some clothing... nothing big, just like, a cloak, or a robe. And they use swords. Definitely check it out~
Because stars are pretty? i think it turned out really well <3 the squirrels are adorable, and the background is amazing!
