Description Barba , Pelagia , and moss. Weren't they just meant to be?

EDIT: For those wondering how these worked out in the long term:

I advise strongly against using DAS clay for a moss garden. It breaks down over time when exposed to water. Pelagia (the non-humanoid one), which is made of sculpey, is doing surprisingly well! I've had to replace patches of moss that have died, but that was always due to my own neglect or extreme temperatures (it gets quite hot here in the summer), not a fault of the substrate.

It's a semi-hollow sculpey model with some moss growing in and around it.

Hmmm... I dunno if this'll work (mosses can be unpredictable and difficult to culture), but it'll be interesting to see is it does! Just keep in mind moss is VERY slow growing.

Something that concerns me is that I don;t know how well the moss will take to growing on or being in contact with polymer clay, because while it might not hurt us (unless ingested), given how large we are, the additives to polymer clay are liable to be toxic to plants. Even so, time will tell what happens.

Based on my past experiences with plants, I'm sure the moss will be dead within two weeks. You can already see it going brown on Barba's base. Still, I can enjoy it while it lasts and even with dead moss on its back, it will still look good in my garden. I doubt the moss will be able to get any rhizomes in the clay. The back is actually hollow and filled with rocks, a bed of spanish moss, and some compost on top. It's lined with foil.

Awwww... Actually if you ever take a ceramics class, that's a medium that would be perfect for making plant-friend sculptures. Especially if it's largely unglazed, so that there's exposed, rough surfaces that the moss and algae can germinate and cling to. You'd basically be making an artificial rock.

Maybe I can adapt the ceramic Chozo that's in my lizard's cage to grow plants in the future. It has a bowl shape that would be perfect for plants.
