Description Kailani of Wolf Park (www.wolfpark.org) again, stalking something in the swamp. I'd tell you what "something" was, but that would spoil it .

*EDIT: fixed the washed out color problem*

Fris-meat must be stalked properly before it is killed an eaten .

:sigh: I don't know what happened, Wolphie, but these shots didn't look so washed out on the camera. There is quite a bit of gold (sun on the coat) and green (eutrophic water) missing, at least on the computer screens I've looked at this picture with. I was going to haul the saturation and contrast up in PS, but I'm afraid I'd go too far and not know it with the screen I've got to work with. Looks great on the camera LCD... any ideas where I goofed? I've got the NEF, so I'm assuming I can convert to 3 channel RAW and retouch it without losing anything, right?

Indeed, proper stalking is key

Well, the first step in pro digital is realizing you are now the colour lab. Where we once relied on the lab to have the proper colour calibrated equipment to get the best out of the films, we now have to have the colour calibrated equipment to know what were doing and what adjustments were making. This starts with a properly calibrated monitor. Before you can know if youre messing up in the camera, you need to know exactly what is coming out of it. You'll need a calibration tool like this [link] A calibrated colourimeter is the only true way to accurately set your monitor. Once we know whats coming out of the camera with your settings, we can determine where else we can tweak

Ahh... I was afraid I might hafta get one of these. Heheh, I'll hafta find an open source solution... this laptop is my only M$ endowed machine, and I don't think it's screen comes very close to doing the whole sRGB colorspace...

Should work on the laptop.. Maybe to a limited degree as the colour gamut wouldnt be a much as a high end graphics monitor, but you need to do the calibration itself with a trusted colorimeter.

Unfortunately yes.. But such is the way things go when you bring the colour correction duties of the lab home with you

The angle here is perfect. She's a gorgeous wolf. The intensity of her gaze in this picture sends little tingles down my spine. Bravo, love, bravo.

Take a hop across the pond and do it! You only live once ! There is a similar facility in the UK, the name escapes me at the moment. I don't know that they let you get in the enclosures with the wolves, though. Worth a look!
