This went through several incarnations before I got fed up with it and decided to just post it as is. First, a crappy digital sketch-colored thing. Then colored pencil. Then markers. This end result is Prismacolor marker over digital line sketch, with colored pencil over it, and then photoshop for the (super CRAPPY) lighting.
I'm still figuring out lightning- both in terms of where the heck it should fall and how to depict it... so... it's a process.

There are very, very few pictures from Chapter 4, so this makes me smile. I would imagine that firelight would be even harder to do than 'normal' light.
I love Harry's over-large glasses, and his "how can this be?" expression.
This was such an important scene, and I'm glad you depicted it.

Knew this was harry potter, hagrid doesn't really look like him though, hes a tough one, that.

He is. Hagrid and Hermione are both hard for me to get right. I finally got him to a point where he kind of looks like I imagine him, though, so I'm glad.

I think to improve this, you should do some hard shading and not soften your highlights so much... :/

Oh, well if you take a look at all your highlights, they all have soft edges, and look soft. So keeping a semi sharp edge on your shadows would look more hard and defined.

Oh okay, I understand now. Most of the lighting I did with a colored pencil over wet marker, so some of the softness wasn't entirely intentional. But I see what you mean.
