The only issue with this is a gunship doesn't need stealth. They can really only operate in areas in which air supremacy has been established.

By the time you start firing, stealth won't matter.

Almost certainly, but the gunship engages with the dual railgun turret for a window of 15-17 seconds, before any enemy detection systems can lock on. The stealth capability is used to enter and exit the AO without prior warning.
