I swear that I'm trying to work on drawings for this coloring book, but every time it seems that my warm up doodles and reference picture searches wind up with a mind of their own.

Don't know where I'd classify this. On one hand, it was just for funsies. I was searching for elk skull references and found one with the giant rack, started drawing it. Originally had it looking something like this guy...

...but then I realized it was kind of plain. I started adding more elements, the cloak, the willow pattern in the background, the will o' wisps. At that point, I did make a conscious decision that this would be a Beast Wirt kind of picture since I love drawing the branches and brambles. Though, with his own antlers, not exactly like he could wear an elk skull easily.

I always imagine Wirt being a scruffy, gangly adult. Guess it doesn't matter when you're slowly being overtaken by a tree, but I had fun drawing this, so nyeh.
