Esin:
She met the gaze of the small pegasus with an iridescent gleam to their feathers, and she gave them a small, but bright smile when she realized they were looking at her. She didn’t believe she’d met them before, but there was something searching in that gaze, and she resolved to ask as soon as they found shelter. Her smile widened when they sheltered little Hanami, and she dipped her head towards them slightly, a small acknowledgement of their kindness.

The arrival of a newcomer made her glance up, ears flicking up in surprise when they stumbled and fell, taking a single step towards them before her ears flattened, recognizing the pride for what it was. If they did not want help then she would not offer it, though her heart ached for want of it. The way they limped made her stomach clench but she pretended not to notice, nodding politely when they replied to her and Bellona, agreeing.

She was going to offer more, perhaps a reassurance that this sudden storm would blow itself out quickly, when something shifted over her skin and her ears swiveled towards the approaching clouds.

The earth shifted and rolled under her hooves, but it was as if it were steadying itself, somehow. Becoming more solid, moving to its rightful place. The sky churned, and a great shadow passed over her. She breathed deeply, then deeper, all three of her eyes widening as her head lifted, gazing fixed and unblinking as the sky opened and Alya appeared like a great cloud rushing in.

The song filled every piece of her. She knew it, somehow, like she knew her own name, like she knew her Blessing, trembling under her skin as the wind sang to her, her curved ears shooting straight up.

No. It couldn’t be.

MY CHILDREN.

“Alya,” She whispered, near inaudible. To be spoken to, to be called her child…! Tears sprang to her eyes, rolling down her cheeks and forehead in small rivulets. “Alya!”

It was happening. She was truly seeing her goddess in action, the Sky Mother herself, four great wings opened and reflecting the sky itself- no, they were the sky, windows into the cosmos and beating down, reshaping as they moved. Incredible, glittering feathers shone in the light, reflecting the strange opalescent sky- and her breath caught again, the iridescence shifting in the clouds no mere trick of the sun, was it? Her legs trembled under her and she stumbled, leaning against Bellona, but her gaze never wavered from the sky, unblinking even as tears streamed down.

They had suffered. They had suffered, but no more.

Water flowed forth, glittering in the light, reflecting the strange, rainbow sheen of the clouds and throwing out scattered reflections, dazzling her eyes but she couldn’t look away. Her goddess had already gone, she knew that, but her gift sprang forth. She had come here to cleanse this ground, to make it anew, to bring water to the remains of their great city. It flowed forth and flooded what had been a barren wasteland just moments before, before Esin’s very eyes becoming a great, shining beacon of hope and life.

No more.

Their goddess had appeared and declared it was over. She had given them this gift. She had cleansed the shattered remains of the city.

Overcome, Esin could only fall to her knees, a great, choking sob escaping her.

Bellona:
Belle searched the horizon for somewhere closer to shelter, bending her head to keep the rain out of her eyes. As she did so she caught the reply of the dark, elderly stallion. She turned to face him just as he stumbled on the jagged earth and fell. Her ears flicked back and she reached out with her teke to help. But she recoiled as Esin did, nodding in agreement with his words and watching him anxiously as he called out to the Kirin child, Hanani. Wait, she squinted in surprise, a Kirin? She hadn't noticed before, but as the rain came to a sudden and eerie halt, the clouds parting almost instantly, the child's scales glittered. But her attention was swiftly drawn away.

A strange, but beautiful sound had caught her ears, "Esin, do you hear that?" She whispered. It was like the wind was singing, she could almost here voices, a shiver ran down her spine. Such strange weather, she'd never known anything like it. She had only been in the desert for a short while and might have assumed this was a normal occurrence but for the expressions of the others. The small dark Pegasus in particular she noted, seemed to be alert and aware of something, but what she couldn't tell.

Suddenly a glorious figure engulfed the sky, her voice booming out.
MY CHILDREN
YOU HAVE SUFFERED SO MUCH

Bellona gasped, frozen as she gazed up toward the divine entity that spoke to the small group. The sound of water echoed as Esin cried out for her god. Bellona instinctively leant into the young Mullah as she stumbled, holding her up and encompassing her tightly with her wing. She looked on in awe, unable to tear her eyes from the events in front of her. In Aodh she had never seen even a statue of a god who bore wings like herself. Her eyes welled up with the beginnings of tears for a moment, she felt safe and somehow at home in the presence of this being.

NO MORE.
I WILL BREATHE SEDO BACK TO GLORY.

A river had burst forth from nowhere as the God faded into nothing but light. As Esin started to sob Bellona held her tight in her wings. Awestruck and unsure what to do she knelt beside Esin, her eyes drawn by the glistening tears that rolled down her face. Startled, she wiped them away, her teke lightly brushing Esin's face."I've never seen a god..." she whispered in a shaky voice looking around at the others. Noticing the Kirin child escape her protector she called out "Stay away from the water little one!" she couldn't quite hear what the child was saying, but she seemed to be speaking to the now gone god. She looked to Esin again, concern gracing her face "are you ok?".
