Welp, I've spent more time on this than what it looks like, mostly because my technique was kinda flawed since it's the first time I try this in years. If I was to re-do it entirely it would certainly take much less time now.This is for the poison-themed contest at

Scales. I fail at them. I know.
but the deadline is nearing and I really don't want to put any more time into this thing. I've already stretched my patience further than I thought I could XD Was a good practice. And what are experiments for, if not to fail miserably so that next time can be better...
Edit : Now with 30% more scale effect ! Wooh ! That's what was missing so bad before !

The scales are spot on, though they could use some more shadow and lighting here and there.
I like how you drew his eyes too, the lighting makes him look alive ^^
It also makes him look somewhat dangerous
I can see you did your homework on snakes, looking at his mouth ^^
It's already very good and looks realistic enough as it is.
But it will be even better looking when you add shadowing and lighting to the scales as well, it doesn't have to be anything major, but it will bring the snake more to the front and will add to its credibility

Sure thing! And yeah, it sounds a bit strange. It's an expression my family uses, "Holy (fill in the blank), Batman!" It's an exclamation without cursing. So, we sometimes say, "Holy coldness, Batman!" Anyway, that's the story.

Oh, yeah, I was like that too at some point. It's hard to start seeing things in 3D instead of copying the lines, it takes a while to get to it.

Pokemon anatomy is a bit harder mostly because it's hard to tell if it's right or wrong, I guess you just kinda have to gain a feeling for it? Ah well. (γ»γΌγ»)

It's all about seeing things in 3D actually, pokemon, animal or human. Pokemon tend to be easier when you stick to their original design I would think, since they're made of simple shapes most of the time.
