Amazing work on this! Is it actually functional? Can you put a 3d model under it and it will conform to it?

Thank you! Β Yes, it works. Β It employs a Maxscript that creates the pins based on a custom height map. Β So if I change the map, and run the script again, the pin positions will change to conform to that shape, etc. Β So it could actually be animated, and I was thinking about doing an animation of it in progress, although I don't have much time for that kind of render right now.

You're welcome. I did somthing like that myself. I also rendered an animation of it.Β

Absolutely incredible render here, Lux. Also I have fond memories of pinboxes or whatever you call them, I used to stick my face in them at every available opportunity when I was a kid.

Thanks, J. That's awesome, I still love playing with these things, and I used to do the same as a kid whenever I saw one.

Holy cow. I love the small scratches on the clear plastic. The whole thing looks very real! Always such great details in your works.

Great job. You always add some nice touches to make these seem so much like a photo.

Damn, like everybody else in the comments I would have thought that was a photograph over a 3D rendering. It's brilliant, you got serious talent, dude! Someday, with enough practice, I dream of having this level of skill.

This is a model? I was fully convinced it was a photograph.

Thank you for the kind words; that's a huge compliment. Yes, it's a CG model I created in 3dsmax.
