Magic

As Carlyle has inherited his mother’s magic capabilities, Carlyle is able to use his Ice magic to give him the upper hand in combat with the supernatural. Carlyle can use his magic in various ways, such as creating:
blades
projectiles
armour
freezing enemy’s inner fluids (water, blood)
inflicting frostbite on people through direct touch
freezing enemies in place if they’re standing in/around freeze-able liquids
causing blizzards

Carlyle in extreme circumstances has his magic enhanced due to his emotions, in which case he can freeze oxygen to suffocate an enemy, or even extinguish fire. In such cases Carlyle requires a strong emotional event such as anger, pain, fear, or love. His powers also become increased and extremely chaotic when under the effect of his demon essence. The demon essence is the scars a demon left within him when it possessed him momentarily, Carlyle exorcised the demon by stabbing himself with a shard and inflicting frostbite, the essence is triggered by extreme anger and rage or when possessed by demons stronger than him.

The way Carlyle’s magic works is similar to a muscle; it gets stronger the more he trains it and can become exhausted after extended use. His magic comes from his blood/genetics inherited from his mother’s bloodline instead of his mother’s ring, where everyone believes it to come from.

History

Born to a Hunter father and a Witch mother, Carlyle from the get go were delivered into the world of the supernatural. He served as the only thing keeping his grandparents from slaughtering each other as they see each other as monsters and murderers respectively. He attended school during the days of his youth, then studied monsters and the supernatural at home as both parental assigned homework and as an interest. His magical capabilities were first discovered when he was 4 and was swimming in his grandfather’s pool and sneezed, freezing the water around him, he was later thawed out by his mother after they were done cheering about his powers.

He had considerable control over his powers for his age, taking on both lessons from his mother and grandfather to control his magic as well as hunting lessons from his father and grandmother. He was a decently popular kid, participated in sports, liked nerdy things, and knew how to flirt with girls.

He went on his first hunt at 13 when he snuck into his dads boot when he went to hunt a Siren. His father was succumbed to the siren’s magic and was then saved when Carlyle blasted an icicle through the sirens knee and then used his father’s pistol to shoot its heart. He began participating on hunts without sneaking in at 16. At 20 he began solo hunts after his father retired. He retired due to being possessed by a Demon; Carlyle had to inflict frostbite onto his father to cause the demon to loosen its grip on him making it susceptible to an exorcism.

Carlyle first met Rida and her crew when Carlyle was on a hunt for a Werewolf. As it turned out they were hunting the same creature due to Gavin’s despise for the werewolf. Both Carlyle and Gavin tracked down the werewolf to a local bar, Carlyle arrived first and confronted the werewolf, putting a bullet in its leg and giving chase, Gavin showing aspects of being a werewolf and being injured in a similar place as the werewolf’s bullet wound was mistaken by Carlyle and fought together, this ceased when Rida hit Carlyle from behind and knocked him unconscious.

Carlyle was then interrogated by Rida and Kalob as to why he was fighting Gavin, after going back and forth with sarcastic comments and sass filled comebacks, Carlyle explained who he was so long as they did the same. Carlyle feared what Rida was as his mother had told him witch legends about blood fusion and the consequences it could make, and despised Kalob not for who he is personally, but the fact that he was an Angel, he lashed out and un-bottled his despise for god on Kalob. The interrogation ceased when Emiko interfered stating that he is only a hunter and that his venting upon god was in deserving due to his and mankind’s history. Emiko convinces them all to team up as Rida informs Carlyle that he is hunting a pack, not a single werewolf.

During the final confrontation, Carlyle saves Gavin’s life as the alpha werewolf and a number of his pack ambushed him and froze the rain drops creating ice spears and piercing them all, then proceeded to put a silver bullet in them all. After taking out the pack, Carlyle made peace with the crew of supernatural beings and offers help in Rida’s quest. He explains that her sister Inori is why he and his father were possessed by a demon due to her massacre in the town they hunted drew the demon to it. He has seen the destruction she has caused and knows she needs to be stopped one way or another. He tells them about his witch blood, which they had not known of until he saved Gavin’s life, he admitted growing fond of them and he felt wanted after living in roadside motels for many years. To the pressure of Emiko, Kalob and Gavin, and though she didn’t want to admit Rida liked having a book buddy, the crew gained a literal witch hunter.

Relation to Others

Rida: respects one another, a surprisingly trusting friendship as they’ve both opened up with each other, both punch Emiko in the morning when she hugs them before their morning coffee, Book buddies, gives each other incredible sass, Car buddies

Emiko: Closest friendship of the group, has some attraction to her but doesn’t act on due to friendship and the mission at hand (maybe after Inori is dealt with) wing mans each other, joke around flirts with each other, pranks the crew together, Carlyle is now the official “deals with drunk/emotional Emiko” person unless if he is also drunk, then they need to be kept apart the dirty minded pricks

Kalob: Bros, after his outburst at their father, Kalob explains his thoughts on God and how he wished he could have done something to humanity, but that was the price of Free Will. Carlyle explained that he always knew this but felt he deserved the rant. Weapon bros

Gavin: Total Bros, pokes fun at Kalob and tries to make him do human things together, music and movie buds
