Description While this isn't the perfect scan, it is certainly a heck of a lot clearer than with my other scanner. No, I didn't get a new scanner; it just suddenly dawned on me the one day that oh wait, my printer also has a scanner. -shot- The reason I don't use it is because the screen is quite small (in comparison to my other crappy scanner) and in all honesty I don't know how much I will use it in the future. This scanned really, really dark and while I did lighten it up a bit, there are still parts of it that are obviously stupidly dark. You can actually see it though, so that's a plus, right?

This is one of the sketches that I've had sitting around since 2008. I quite like how it came out in the end (looks better in person, though). I didn't touch the lineart at all, so old lineart is old, but surprisingly not that bad, eh? (YUSIJUSTSAIDEH!)

So here we have Shinjite. In this instance, she's discovering that she has the ability to turn water into ice just by touching it. She no longer has this ability--it faded out of her since she never used it, but she did have it. In this picture, she's standing on a riverbank or at the edge of a pond or something and reaching out her paw and touching the water, perhaps having intended to swat at something under the water only to have it start to ice over. Aaaaaand I can't draw water or ice to save my life, so forgive me that. Even with references I couldn't get it to look right.

I tried to use a reference for the water and ice, but it didn't really work.
I tried to find a good reference for the light source, but mostly went from my head.
As I recall, no reference used for Shinjite.

Here's the crappy scan from my other scanner and the equally crappy photo:

Such a lovely drawing, I always love it when I manage to finish drawings started a long time ago.
The lightening is very beautiful, how it spreads out from where the paw touches the ice. I also love the expression. Great work!

I love the paw being stretched forth like that, and the lighting is gorgeous. Wonderful light and contrast.

Thank you! I'm glad the lighting has worked out so well since that was one of the reasons it took me so long to get this piece to completion.

If you got photoshop, you can adjust the levels to give it better contrast.

what kind of program do you have? i'm sure scanners are supposed to come with programs that will allow you to at least adjust the image.

Photostudio 5.5 or some nonsense like that. And I was going to open it with my other scanner's program that does balancing and contrast stuffs but it's like, "No! No like that file!" (Even though it's just a jpeg...) =\

No, it takes jpegs. It saves as jpegs. *shrug* The two programs just don't agree.

8D Thanks so much! I actually wasn't even sure how the beams of light would come across since it was totally experimental. I'm glad they came out okay though!
