There is always a message in the titles. I like to make the suggestion and then let people interpret as they see fit. In the case of the word threshold, it has many meanings that can apply -
A threshold is a breaking point, the furthest a condition can go before it transmutes into something else.
It is also the crossing between one place to another.
It is the state between metamorphosis.
In Will's case, I believe he is always on the threshold of death - he is the emotionally living dead, as depicted here.
