I usually follow this steps:
1. I cover a little area on a post-it sheet of paper with a B graphite pencil
2. I use it as a palette, so I rub the brush on that area to load it with a bit of graphite
3. I use the brush on the drawing.
But recently I have bought graphite powder from www.artifolk.co.uk (www.artifolk.co.uk/pencils/gra⦠and I will definitely give it a try!

oh yes I use a black watercolor pencil... it's a color pencil that can be used with water or not.. I use it in a dry way, as a substitute of charcoal for the darkest parts (see eyelids, iris, dark shadows, etc.)
Thanks for the comment

i like this so much the shading is so clean and realistic. how did you make the eyes so different so that they stand out? xxx

LucaTedde In reply to solpup [2006-01-14 13:19:30 +0000 UTC]
I used a black colored pencil, instead a normal graphite pencil, to draw the eyes... That made the black so black and the eyes stand out more.
