Another 12x16 inch acrylic painting on canvas board done some years ago, trying black to white scale only for the first time. Still took about 6-8 hours (I know I work slowly). I'd come across a few photo images of this scene - during daylight hours - but then saw someone on-line do a version with the black backdrop which I thought worked well to complement the subject. I purchased a wide choice of brushes to attempt this fur, but only one brush worked well enough - and then I went and left that brush in the water over night, silly me, and it never worked well again.
Also despite the media pushing stories about how we are making the polar bears world bad - it is all tosh. They are doing very well indeed, and possibly doubled in numbers in the last fifty years. A Canadian woman expert in the polar bears put out facts to dispute the fear mongers...
