Description Pokemon number 3 for my 151 Pokemon Challenge! I've always loved nidoran, as a child when I played Pokemon Blue I had both male and female nidoran in my party, and still had my nidoking and nidoqueen when I got to the Pokemon League!

Good point, I hadn't thought about that before! Maybe it's because they're the only pokemon to display obvious differences between the sexes? Although, I am no Pokemon master... xD

There are some in later generations with similarly big differences, like the male and female variations being different colours or patterns. Then again, back when the first Pokemon games came out, most of the time Pokemon didn't have any gender. It was only the two nidorans that did, I think, and it was only to distinguish the two variations. It's strange to think about how things have changed with Pokemon, even seemingly small things like that. I really like that a lot of pokemon now have gender variations

It is interesting, isn't it! I wonder how long it'll be before there's a course on Pokemon... Maybe there already is! It's a good way of looking at evolution and sexual dimorphism I guess!

Haha maybe he's wondering why, in generation 1, he and the female Nidoran are considered separate pokemon, with their own Pokedex entries. And why in recent generations there are just male and female variations in a fair few pokemon, but they still get to share one pokedex entry and are considered one pokemon I was thinking about that while I drew him, actually! I'm glad you think he looks cute
