"Tabbris! Hey!" Melody waved at the other biped to catch her attention, standing near the nova tree. They'd agreed to meet here at this time so they could practice some magic together, like they'd promised.

The pink gro perked up at the sight of Melody, starting to walk towards the shrine, but she paused as she saw Melody look down to exchange words with a black and white quad standing beside her. She felt a little disheartened at how friendly the two seemed, but swallowed her trepidation and stopped in front of them. "Melody, good to see you," she chirped, glancing down at the male. "Who's this?"

"This is Toxy! He's well-versed in a lot of magic, and I met him when I was looking to add more wynglings to my family, so to speak, and we practiced a bit together. I ran into him on the way here and asked if he wanted to tag along, since he could probably give you some fire tips!" Melody's spoke with excitement in her voice, making Tabbris feel terrible for wishing that Toxy wasn't present. Even if she had been nervous, she had been under the impression that the two of them would be spending time together... alone.

Then again, that was a silly thought, since it wasn't like this was a date. It was simply a meeting between two acquaintances to practice magic together, sharing a common goal. Tabbris gave Toxy a grin and tapped the tips of one of her hooves on the cobblestone beneath them, the fidgeting accompanying her nervous irritation. "Hey, it's cool to meet you! I'm Tabbris. I have a pretty good handle on everything else up to the intermediate level, but, um... fire's always given me trouble." She hated to admit it like that in front of Melody, but it wasn't like it would do either of them any good to lie about it.

"No problem! I'm pretty good with fire, and I'm happy to help," Toxy said, his voice cheery and eyes bright. "I've helped a fair few gros before, so I'm not sure if I'm the best teacher, but I do have some experience in the whole 'tutoring' department. Though I would definitely recommend visiting miss Netty, since I know she's more of a professional." He glanced around, turning his head like he was looking for something, then nodded his head towards the nova shrine. "Want to practice here? Hard to set cement on fire in case of any mishaps."

"Sure," Tabbris agreed, nodding and trying not to look at Melody too much. Her face was warm. It was embarrassing to ask this stranger for help, someone who was already much better at this, in front of her.

Melody herself didn't seem to mind, finding a place to sit on the steps with Toxy and immediately beginning to discuss what emotions she thought of fire magic being connected to. Well, Tabbris thought with a sigh, going to sit with them, I guess it's time to get to work.

Meanwhile, in the background, we have best friends Skylar and Kalmia visiting the nova shrine on an excursion to the center of town! Their families let them go out to play in the town square as long as they promise to be good and not wander off out of town, to some shady place, or stay out after dark. The pair likes to play around the tree, often coming up with games of imagination, which Skylar's wibble, Storm, is often (reluctantly) dragged into.
