Description Skirmish between the noble Sacred Band infantry of Carthage and the veteran Roman Triarii.

Alright, so I spilled coffee all over my brand new computer and I cant crack it open to fix it without voiding the warranty, so it might be a while before I can get back to some serious digital work (not that I've been making much, but still) waiting for my computer to get back from Geek Squad. It is a bit of a relief to get back into pencils though.

Wait, I thought the Holy Band was a Thebes thing. Where there several?

Anyway, love ths piece. Always like the concept of the Triarii; you know you're badass when you get your own saying. Plus the feathers are pretty sweet too.

Carthage's sacred band was made up of noblemen, so when their phalanx fell it was devastating to Carthage's elite class. I *think they were only fielded twice. They were lavishly outfitted owing to the wealth of the empire so they made themselves quite tempting targets too. Also makes them fun to draw!

Took a bit of blood to reach the Triarii ranks though

Thanks!

That's exactly why I developed the habit to drink coffee/tea or any kind of drink like a loaded gun when using a PC. Safety first!

Excellent dynamics!

Doesn't seem too long ago, I'm sure you'll still find someone complaining about it!

I really like how your pencil work turns out. Whenever I try to draw a lot of figures in the same space, it looks like one big grey smudge. How do you avoid that?

Also use clear plastic coverings to protect what you've drawn from the touch of skin.

Roll up my sleeves and work from right to left, also don't try rendering shading and shadows until you have your whole composition down and more or less realized. Don't be afraid to draw with the eraser too

Thanks mate!
