Culmination of Shadows

A year passed… a year filled with struggle, anger, pain and finally acceptance. Fighting demons both within her as well as without in the Wastelands, Rune gradually became one with her inner darkness, embracing Shadow as she was meant to do. Shadow had become her everything… mother, father, sister, brother and lover, Shadow was her God and she, as its consort was now a Goddess of Death.

Learning to channel her pain into battle and to absorb dark energies through her sword with the skill of a seasoned warrior hadn’t been easy for Rune at first, but it had gotten easier over time and with each kill turned into a thing she hungered for, savoring it like a fine cut of meat. It was all she wanted, needed; her human past a mere ghost of memory, the pains suffered phantoms in mist. A mist she could dispel with one broad sweep of a blade.

It was a triumph of mind over that which she thought in her desperation mattered. Calamity quieted, the riot within transmogrified into a chilly peace, a combination of sorrows transformed into a culmination of shadows…
