Yesterday I promised to myself that I should draw at least once in a day no matter how busy I am so ...tadaaa! Here's my first art from day 1. ^^ Obviously, I still need a lot of improvements. I think there's still something missing with the way I blend and choose colors so I'd really appreciate if you leave critiques and comments along with your visit.

First of all, I'd like to say that the colors you chose so far are very nice. They're colorful and, dare I say it, fruity.
I can see how you've tried to add variety into the coloring here and it really is a great start. What your difficulty seems to be is that you aren't using darker colors. Your shading is relatively light, especially on the headband, which has wrinkle lines and some shading on the back and the left, but the majority of it is one single color. I'm not sure what program you're using but you could play around with adding, for example, some deeper shadows and then some light blue on the insides of folds or where deeper shadows fall.
The skin is really saturated, which I personally like, but I'm not sure what you aim for your style to be. Regardless of style, though, you would need to make the nose stand out a bit more so that it's noticeable. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I badly need some criticizing 'coz I figure out I was lacking some elements in this piece and you're really right about the shading. I'm very much conscious about the way I shade. Thinking that I might mess up the whole thing if i add more darker tones that it tends to get pale instead. I'm trying to conquer that fear now hehe^^ Also, about the headband...yeah...i really suck on rendering fabrics and that's what I also need to practice a lot.
hmm..other than that, i guess i don't have anything more to say except thank you again for your time in giving me this critique. It really helped me a lot and has given me more motivation to practice harder. Have a great day ahead!

I am a bit surprised that you had trouble with shading because after I started writing it, I saw your Happiness piece, which is beautifully bright but still well shaded.

it's because i really spent a lot of time making it and i
kept on editing it whereas "Violet" was done a short while before
I went to bed hehe.

siguro ung color values lang.yun bang may dark, darker, light and lighter and neutral.sana iconcentrate mo pa paglagay ng highlight and shadows. pero I'm sure alam mo na yun

Thanks. Oo, nga eh. Yun yung problem ko sa rendering kasi takot akong mag take ng risk when it comes to using darker hues in shading. It's one of my fears that I'm trying to overcome^^

It's the eyes here. They really captivate you. It's mesmerizing! @_@ Obviously, you have a lot of talent! 8D
What I could say immediately is add more volume. Make her features more defined. Really, the best thing to do to increase the quality of your work is to invest more time into it! And do you want to know what is missing? Ears!!

hahaha yes, the ears! My intention was to actually make the ears
look like it's hidden behind the hair but now that I've given it a
second glimpse, it looks more like she really doesn't have her ears! hehehe
