When =bluealaris and I are not obsessing/working our asses off on Oscura, we have a few stories that keep us occupied. I wanted to do a minicomic for one of them, for sheer gore pleasure.Aside from a few stories I REALLY HATES FANTASY. Little known fact, so a lot of my other stories are 100% reality, no bullshit bampyres or magicks. Just people. Tien happens to be one of those. He's part of a serial killer story with his BFF Mahr :
We've been trying to figure out a good time to place the story, and since serial killers were so prolific in the 1970s in the US, we kind of ended up there. ALSO, HE LOOKS SO GOOD IN THAT SHIRT. UGH.
Tien belongs to me. Wtf, I want that outfit.

His name is usually Tashiya, but I decided to make him half chinese/caucasian so I gave him his chinese name (he was usually half chinese/half japanese). So you may have seen him around, I just decided to play with he and Mahr's story a bit.

BAAAH JEAROUS. I always wanted to go to school for psych of some sort, but I ended up on art school. ;_; I am a huge serial killer buff, since I was little. I mean, I don't LIKE them, but I find them fascinating. I've been working with =bluealaris forever trying to make a not too cheesy believable comic with serial killers, but that's definitely on the back burner. It's tough.... 8( Lots of research and compiling information for us.

Them and artists.
Depending on the focus of your comic, you could center your attention on a particular killer or killing style; that'd cut down on the research. c:

Oh we already did that. We have the two main characters down (Tien is one) and it's mostly just for fun, so there is realism and research, but it's going to be fun for the most part. Also, we both love reading about serial killers so the research is all well and good. Haha, I'm just a whiner. X.X

The line less thing was totally by accident when I turned off the line art and was like "!!!!!!!! THAT LOOKS BETTER". I've been trying to move away from too much line art in favor of more painterly or paper cut styles, it's tough though!!! This took way longer than it should have! *o*;;;
And yush, I had such a problem with cellphones I kept wanting to push the story back in time, and then Viva mentioned that the 70s were a good time for serial killers because of lack of communication, the hippies, and the general kinda laissez faire attitude. Then i had a mental image of Tien in that SHIRT and it was all over.

It was worth the time I think! I've always wanted to try more painterly/lineless stuff but yeah, it's hard!! It looks so simple and easy but it's SO NOT! One day, I will get the hang of it
