Hmph, didn't do them justice. Too much noise in the background, maybe...Anyway, if you like Yami Bakura, you'll probably like the witty, part-Arabian knife/whip/gun-wielding kleptomaniac, Kaitou Noir. And if you like Ryou with a backbone, you'll probably like Florian with his quick fists, big heart, and marked talent for getting stabbed, shot, poisoned, strangled, chained, kidnapped, drugged and tortured. **huge sweatdrop**
Usually ends up getting rescued and given some TLC by Noir, during which the thief usually spoils the mood by making a snarky comment or pointing out how much money Florian still owes him (trying keep his aloof image intact, heheheh...).
Gorgeous Carat [link] is a yaoi series... lime, at the very least, but it's also got jewel heists, murder plots, crime rings, and treasure hunts a la Indiana Jones.
Or if you prefer something like Phantom of the Opera, there's a side-story, Gorgeous Carat Galaxy [link] that's probably more for you. You'll really start to see similarities by the time part 6 kicks in.

I don't know a dammed thing about Gorgeous Carat, except what you've said about it - so I feel a bit akward commenting on this. The characters are just really handsome, though. And I love the intricate designs you did on the back of the chair, and the lamp. Those two look so classy, I've always loved more old-fashioned costuming like that. x3

My my, both of them are quite sexy. I love the vaguely-psychotic glint in Noir's eye, quite well-done. ...Hm. Florian somehow reminds me of Lestat. o.0 It must be the hair. Although the eyes are reminiscent of Lestat as well.... *wanders off to contemplate this*

I haven't read the Galaxy one yet, just the first manga/volume. But, gods, Noir is like...the perfect mix of Bakura and Eric. For some odd reason...he seems to possess Erik's flair but Bakura's personality, which to me, is funny and just plain damn cool! *thrusts fist into the air*
Have you read Susan Kay's version of "Phantom"? I swear, you can really get into Erik's persona, and he is...he reminds me of a very very sardonic (wait...YB is alreayd quite sardonic, isn't he) and polite Bakura. XD And Noir is the perfect mix.
Plus, he's Arabian/French. XD That just makes me laugh.
I can see how you thought Floron was like..Ryou. Of course, to me, Floron was like Raoul, what with the, "I will not fall to as low as you/ will not take your charity thing." Then again, Ryou is probabaly the closest one in the YGO fandom to BEcome a Raoul.

No problem! **snuggles GC** Yep yep, out of all the cop/thief mangas I've read, this one is easily my fav, even if Noir borrows his thief outfit from Tuxedo Mask. XD And yes he does look an awful lot like Yami B sometimes, particularly this one doujinshi version where Yami B has a stronger chin...

Noir does look a lot like Yami Bakura sometimes! I swear! From teh back though, he reminds me of Sirius, especially when he starts laughing about the idiots he escaped from. "He's...there's no other word for it...a brat." XD But then you stare at Noir's face, and you see the glint in his eyes...then you think, "Baku!"
heehee!! Just finished the second volume. I laughed out loud when Florian was in the cave from the gas..."a real phantom", he says. XD Wouldn't it be interesting for Bakura to meet Erik and Florian at once? I mean, they're all so ... similar! I could just imagine that conversation that's going on. ^___^ Noir would make some crack-pot joke, Bakura would have this huge long speech and play with blood, and Erik would disappear and leave with the real jewel, replacing it with a replica he made himself!
^____^ I like Noir so much!! He's sort of...in between of a Yami Bakura and an Erik. Right in between. There are parts where he seems to be a Sirius-replica brat, and times when he's just Bakura-sadistic and Erik-sardonic! *claps hands* I think I've found a new bishie.
There are times though, when I'm watchign FLorian, I'd go, "no, Ryou would probabaly faint waaaaayyy before you did." I swear. Can Ryou even HOLD a gun? XD I doubt it. He'd drop it and go, "Bakura! I think this is one of yours!"

I think canon manga Ryou would be capable of killing someone if he had the means, in defence of himself or his precious people. To me, he's the kind of person "capable of killing but incapable of cruelty". Fanon Ryou, on the other hand, wouldn't stand a chance either way. He probably would faint dead away.
Yugi, on the other hand, wouldn't be capable of deliberately killing anyone, whether to save a loved one or not (we saw evidence of that with duel against Kaiba atop Pegasus' castle).

True true. Yugi doesn't ever seem to be capable of any such thing. Canon manga Ryou certainly has more guts; we woud've seen him kill Yami Bakura if he had the abilities/means. Somehow, perhaps picturing Ryou wtih a gun doesn't quite fit...XD
