Beautiful. It looks more like a Chinese Phoenix, though. I think that life-death refers to the phoenix's rebirth after every 500 years?

It is supposed to look vaguely Chinese-y. I was thinking of those old Chinese paintings when I was doing it... not quite right, though, 'cause I was using a dry brush for the most part.

this is very nice. the atmosphere is great, the colors fit the texture work perfectly. I would take out those chineese letters out of there... pretty much spoils the magic... but anyway, it's your pic, and it's great
