Did this over the weekend; it's a bit more angsty and there's more clothing than my usual stuff. Sorry about that :\The delectable atlinmerrick has written a chapter of her new series The First Time that goes with this, which you can find here. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

This may possibly be my favorite of your JohnLock picture, though you've drawn lots of other great ones. (I recently started reading AtlinMerrick's fic on AO3, found her links to your art, and and am now a VERY happy Nonie!)
And while the sexy and the quirky are utterly delightful, in a lot of our lives sex and even love are sometimes easier to find than someone who understands giving comfort--freely, generously, and without demanding endless recognition for how helpful they're being.
I hadn't heard of the basic human need for touch and pressure until I read autistic author Temple Grandin writing about how, while human touch is usually unendurable, she needs the enclosing pressure when she's overloaded, so she figured out how to build herself something like a folding-cot hugging machine that lets her provide for her own need.
(Me, I've only got the lesser social awkwardness that often comes with ADD, but I find Grandin's books amazing for their brilliantly different view of human behavior AND for how much her book about the emotional needs of animals--which she DOES understand--has helped me understand not only domesticated animals but human ones like myself.)
I also discovered with my second husband--large, soft, gentle, and with little enough body odor he only showered once or twice a week--how much we humans are still tuned to more pheromonal cues than just sex. I could come from a rough day at work and a hellish commute, drop my purse, curl up inside the arc of his drowsing body and breathe deeply, and within a minute or two I'd be floating in the absolute relaxation of that animal sense of HOME - my mate, my family, my safe burrow; all is utterly and perfectly right with the world.
This picture makes me hope that Sherlock and John find that peace too, when they need it most. Neither of 'em was exactly made for peace--at least apart--but perhaps inside that whirlwind together there's a still center that is their deepest home.
