“Come on, Mimi! You know better than that!”

Even though he would have claimed to have the hockey game on as “just background noise” while he studied, Jonah was a lot more vested in it than he’d admit. The men’s team was uncharacteristically bad the past season, and had not made it out of the first round of their conference playoffs. The women’s team, though, was good (like normal), and had made it all the way to the national championships. While he couldn’t make it to the game, he was still there in spirit, rooting the women’s team (especially Misae) on.

Things had definitely changed since his first year in Youngstown. When they announced that they were going to have a girl on their team, it seemed that the entire focus of the world was on their hockey team. It didn’t really bother him. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time that he had a girl on his team. And, obviously, she had to be good if the coach took a chance, and drafted her. But, it wasn’t just that.

There was the whole “fighting evil by moonlight thing”, as Brandon called it.

He remembered the first time Misae transformed. Who, in their group, couldn’t? Plus, he was the one that the giant popcorn kernel nearly ate. He’d been sick most of the day before the game, and counted it as nothing more than an ill timed hallucination.

He couldn’t do the same, though, when there was an attack during his music concert. That was the first time he transformed in to Hyperion. It was pretty cool, after all. Not only did he get to play a guitar made of water, but he saved the day. How many people could say they did that in the middle of “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”?

The slam of a door, though, cut through his focus. “Hey, Bro! How’s the game going?”

“Gophers are up 3-2 about halfway through the third period. And, could you please be a bit quieter when you shut the door, Tay? There are people trying to study.”
