Description Russian Spetsnaz soldiers

Spetsnaz is an abbreviation of, "Voyska Spetsialnogo Naznacheniya". which means forces with special tasks. It is impossible to make a direct comparison between Spetsnaz and western Special Forces, since their organisation, structure, tasks, equipment and operational procedures are very different from their western counterparts.

Various Spetsnaz forces come under the command of the Ministry of Defence (GRU), State Security Forces (FSB, SVR, FPS, FPO) and the Ministry of the Interior (MVD)

great illustration, are they meant to they to be from the 1990s? im asking because the one on the right looks like he's meant to be figting in chechnya

is the soldier on the right wearing an m60 helmet?

Yep, right both times.

My main source material for this was Dennis Desmond's 'Camouflage Uniforms of the Soviet Union and Russia 1937-to the present'. Published in 1998

Very nice. Remarkable attention to detail and the cloth pattern.

You should try doing a service uniform--maybe motorized rifles, M1969? I'm not just saying that because I think they're the best looking or anything
