A totally fictional colonial desert fighter, complete with camouflaged pith helmet and 'gandourah', desert smock.The drawing is directly inspired by the French Foreign Legion, and is a mix of early 20th century military uniform (pith helmet and elements of native dress) and mid 20th century military technology (camouflage and improvements in small arms).
Hell, he's got a sub-machine gun and is wearing a frickin' pith helmet what more do you want?
