I agree about Jacob losing his personality. That was rather tragic to read.
And thanks! Half-vampire psychic babies are inherently creepy, y'know.

Hahaha, best comment ever. If it was Edward, I'd say "well, he doesn't eat food, so does anything go through to the other side?" But it's Jacob, and as far as I know (I won't be reading past Twilight, as I could only finish that on mere strength of will) werewolves eat food, so I bet he occasionally bombs Pearl Harbor.
Awesomeness!

We'll switch it up. People can either be "scared shirtless" or "go shitless." That works, but would probably result in blank looks and require some explanation. Either way I like it.

I didn't mind Albus Severus (I assume you're implying you didn't like that Harry named his son that, and you think Renesmee is a worse name). I thought it was appropriate, that Harry would totally do that whether the reader approves of the name or not. There could have been better names, but I thought it was good. As for Renesmee.... I assume Stephenie was hitting the 1900s censuses again. Blech.

I just find it kind of amusing that Harry named ALL of his kids after people. They're like walking memorials. And I also find it kind of appalling that he used "Severus" because yeah, Snape DID sacrifice a lot, but he still hated Harry! He was still a jerk to 99% of the population. Also, I can just imagine Snape *facepalm*ing in wizard heaven, knowing Harry named a kid after him. Anyway.
And Renesmee? Not from the census records...

Good point. Maybe Harry's just not very original with names. Plenty of people name all their kids after people, but it was a bit much. It didn't distract from the depth of the story, but I see why it annoys you and I understand.
Where does Renesmee come from, then? Is it original? It is awful, whatever it is. Oh, and I just found out they nickname her "Nessie!" HAHAHAHA! Perfect sequel to Breaking Dawn (I don't have a title for it) would be that when Nessie hits puberty, suddenly she can't survive out of water, and her neck starts growing longer and her fingers turn to flippers. You can see where this is going....
I must laugh hysterically just a bit more.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh yeah, Albus Severus didn't detract from DH at all. It's just a little tiny irritant in a sea of goodness. Nice visual imagery, huh?
And Renesmee is original. It's a lovely blending of two names that should not be blended with anything!
And maybe you should write this sequel? Maybe...umm...Breaking the Surface? Noon Swim? Diving at Dusk?

I'd call it Breaking Bella. It would be really subtle, it would be about actually breaking Bella, mentally and physically. It would be a cruel, dark book, with a happy sunny ending. Sunny because the sun would come out in the end so strong and warm that its rays reach everywhere and touch everything, and happy because it turns out vampires burn in the sun after all.
Yes, nice imagery. Renesmee = Rene as in Descartes and Smee as in Mr. Smee?

Oo, Breaking Bella? I could be interested in that. Let me know when you finish the first chapter.
And yes! It is Descartes and Mr. Smee! How did you know Bella is a fan of both Descartes and JM Barrie?

Manbearpig82 In reply to Limlight [2008-08-10 18:59:04 +0000 UTC]
Haha, I'll let you know. First I have to decide, should Breaking Bella be really short so we can have it over with, or really long so we can enjoy her suffering?
Regardless, Renesmee apparently takes more after Descartes than Mr. Smee: [link]
(I tried to find a good Smee pic, but putting Descartes on cartoon Smee's body didn't seem like it would have this effect, and I didn't really have more than five minutes to do this. It's sloppy Photoshopping, anyway, but it was fun!)

I am kind of lukewarm about Breaking Dawn...I'll probably get more into my opinions in a journal in a few weeks. But yeah, I take issue with a lot of things. What did you love about it?

Hurray for Jacob! His part of the book was probably my favorite--I really liked him as a narrator. I didn't care for his chapter in Eclipse so that was a change for me. The end was kind of anticlimactic for me, but you know...it was an entertaining enough read, all around.
