I've always been a tremendous fan of the Bond Franchise, so when I first started dabbling in vector graphics, I always had it in the back of my head that I wanted to put my own style on some very famous and very iconic movie posters.
For Your Eyes Only officially puts to bed the SPECTRE era of the Bond franchise, as 007 dumps Ernst Blofeld down a smokestack. It's unfortunate that Moore got to kill a villain who had locked swords with Connery and Lazenby, but it had to be done. Sandwiched between the spectacles of Moonraker and Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only seems, by Bond standards, almost quaint. The stakes were lower--that is to say, less overblown. This pared down Bond film has served the franchise well previously--From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Live and Let Die were all more deliberate films that offered more of Bond the person and less of Bond the persona. FYEO, however, misses the mark frequently. Julian Glover's duplicitous Kristatos--a Greek smuggler aiming to sell the ATAC to the Soviets--was a rare bright spot that showed that good Bond villains don't need to overpower to show sufficient malice.
