And yeah, I stole Wind Waker Link's PJs

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omnivoyance In reply to Lillooler [2013-03-26 10:22:39 +0000 UTC]

... I wasn't saying I didn't like the other body parts... I just liked the faces particularly well. Aaand since that is where the first spark of their soul is its pretty important.

LOL, I wouldn't beat myself up too much. You're going to a school for this so they will beat you regularly I'm sure! XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lillooler In reply to Omnivoyance [2013-03-26 20:06:13 +0000 UTC]

I know, I know, I'm just saying that I wish I worked more on the other body parts instead of just faces. Faces are all I practice drawing, so when it comes to drawing a full body drawing, everything looks derpy.

On another note, I'm thinking Art School isn't gonna happen.... As much as I love to draw, I refuse to be a starving artist.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omnivoyance In reply to Lillooler [2013-03-26 23:42:46 +0000 UTC]

Compromise. Draw HUGE autonomous sentient body parts! Like hands with a face. Aaaand a foot with a face! A... a.... A FACE with a FACE!!! *giggles insanely*

LOL OK that was just me being silly, though it might be good for your inner artist anyway.

You could do a series of fan-art of the headless horseman! If that doesn't solidify your non head anatomy, what will? XD

Ooooh Noooes! But suffering is great for your art! LOL sorry couldn't resist. Its even funnier because its true!! XD XD

Well, I have always regretted not going to college but then in my family that was an expectation placed on me. A goal in and of itself. Also sucks that I have gone just long enough to know that I'm REALLY good at learning in a structured environment (and sucky as heck at learning without structure). But I have always heard that college isn't worth that much if you can get the knowledge, portfolio, and exposure on your own.

You got your work cut out for you but I think you have a lot more self discipline than I do so I'll bet on you to get it on.

If you aren't going to dump massive amounts of cash into your art, does that mean you wouldn't mind dumping a smaller amount of cash into your writing via something like the classes and support groups available at that Writer's Village I linked to you a while about? Havenwic seemed somewhat interested... maybe you could be in the same group/classes at first!

Lillooler In reply to Omnivoyance [2013-03-27 00:26:23 +0000 UTC]

Huh, well you see Omni, I do plan on going to college, I just know it won't be an art school. And I may very well take classes to improve my writing, and I may also take a couple minor art classes if they are available, but you never know...

I actually drew the headless horseman my Junior year English class, but I threw it away because I hated it so much lol

Lillooler In reply to Omnivoyance [2013-03-27 01:39:10 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure, really... I was actually considering Architecture... which is fun to a point, but once you get into the rules and regulations regarding architecture things get a little... boring.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omnivoyance In reply to Lillooler [2013-03-27 02:01:53 +0000 UTC]

I hear that! Just the bits I bumped into in Blue-Print Reading class... zzzzzzzzzzzz Buut it was fun trying to convert them over to 3D.

Apparently using Auto-CAD (like Auto-VIZ) to create virtual versions of the Architect's plans that the client's can "walk" through was popular at the time... Do they still do that? You're kind of in that business with your Dad right? (sorry if you already mentioned it did I mention I have a bad memory?). I mean that's a fun artistic thing to do involving architecture and you have a legitimate business excuse to buy powerful 3D modeling software... which you can then use to make fantasy landscapes and X-Wing Go-Cart racers complete with R2-D2! ^0^ (jeeze I must have said this before the whole conversation is giving me DeJa Vu )

Lillooler In reply to Omnivoyance [2013-03-27 19:23:43 +0000 UTC]

Bahahaa yeah we've talked about this before, it was pretty close to when we first started talking though. So over a year.
We don't really do the walk through in 3D thing. But we do use that sort of thing to get the clients to see what the exterior of the house looks like.
And I have had to transfer paper plans and recreate them into the computer countless times. I once did two plans in 2 hours... which is really fast, by the way lol. It's pretty boring.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Omnivoyance In reply to Lillooler [2013-03-27 22:29:30 +0000 UTC]

Boring!?! Oh must be some sort of fairly automatic program. I got to create everything piece by piece and then pick out "materials" to cover them in etc... Its like carving wood into people and cars and then painting and upholstering them to look like... anything but wood (that's the closest analogy I got other than it feels fairly Godlike at times). I actually enjoyed it better when I was done and could play with creating a fantasy snowscape of hills and trees etc... for the cheery lights in my craftsman floor plan house to glow out on. Despite the godlike power to make hills etc... it was teh wee snowman out front I enjoyed the most. Its the details ya know?

Just cause your dad business doesn't do it doesn't mean that wouldn't be a good skill to have alongside whatever main architectural gig you learn. Its actually pretty cool animating the camera's point of view to "walk" through the house. Then animate doors, lights and such in the way to make the feeling of being there complete. Anywho, I just thought if your life after college kept you hard at work on architectural/design jobs for a while this would put some art in your job. *shrugs*

Also some of those programs like Autodesk VIZ are made by the same group that makes Maya and the other programs that MOVIE modelers and animators use so learning it for architecture is good experience if you ever wanted to segue into something that also does bouncy flesh, water, fire, hair and other particle effects. Heh, you can tell I thought about this once when I thought I might have a, whatcha call it?, oh right... A Future! LOL

Lillooler In reply to Omnivoyance [2013-03-30 06:23:28 +0000 UTC]

I've seen all the fun little "add your own detailsy-detials" stuff in action when I did a CAD class at school a few years ago, but the program we have at work is of a different design.

It's main function is house designing. We don't have the option of making cute little snowmen or background rolling hills. We have walls that we choose the hight, and the extent of detail work I get to do is reformatting window and door designs. Does it have a transom? Is it a slider? Is the window six foot or two foot? Should I align that with the interior or exterior. How high is the ceiling going to be? That's the detail work that I get to deal with. Other people get to make pretty pictures with fun colors. All our stuff is black, white, blue, red and/or grey. (Or when I'm being frivolous neon pink or green... but only when blue and red are taken.)

Omnivoyance In reply to Lillooler [2013-03-30 14:22:47 +0000 UTC]

Too bad...

But other businesses have other programs and which ever one you eventually end up with or create yourself could use something different and more fun. (was the second part of that)
