Okay, honest talk here: I have at least drawn 15 concept sketches for this Commission ever since I got it and NONE of them felt right. Then I scribbled some lazy 5 minute thing in my notebook at the placement on Monday and suddenly I agreed with a concept. Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to spend hours upon hours on well thought-out concept sketches which you later on scrap only to find out that apparently you can draw your idea out in 5 minutes while distracted and bored!? I am so incredibly MAD at myself!

By the way, the trouble I had with this was not a lack of ideas or anything. No, quite the opposite actually! I had so damn many ideas that I couldn't decide on one. Most of the time I had to simplify my ideas to fit the background difficulty requirement. Also had to do that here by the way. The original drabble sketch had Em standing on a ruin building, but I couldn't quite pull that off convincingly in a real drawing without spending way too much time on it (and I hate drawing buildings, so there's that). This is the alternative I came up with and I really love the outcome! Especially the markings and wings were a blessing to draw. I had SO. MUCH. FUN!

Words cannot express how sorry I am for taking so awfully long! But as I said, the inspiration and sometimes even motivation were all over the place while I planned this drawing, and then there came the exams and other stuff came up. And here we are now, at the very end of February. I really hope I could make the wait worth it! Thank you SO MUCH for commissioning me! Your characters are a true blessing to this world and so are the worlds you created for them. I am beyond intrigued when it comes to Em, his backstory and the planet he lives on. The concept is so amazing! To draw this was a true honour and I'll certainly draw the lovely boy again someday!
