They had been driving so long that Tess was becoming a danger behind the wheel, even more than what she already was. So while they hunted for a motel Charles took over driving. Katelil now rested back in the front passenger seat as Tess had commandeered the rear in order to lay down fully. Katelil actually couldn't help admire how peaceful Tess looked as she slept. Katelil would probably be asleep as well if Charles hadn't asked her to help keep him awake with some conversation.

So far they had mostly focused on the specifics of Katelil's life. How she'd gotten her first tattoo's in order to hide scars to better achieve the devil child look. That she had actually started the acrobat thing on a night the actual acrobats were missing a member due to a severe illness and they needed a light member. She decided it was now time for Charles to answer some of her questions. “Ok so, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. You're a bounty hunter who doesn't kill?”

“Ok well, bounty hunter probably isn't the best descriptor for what I actually do.” Charles said shifting a bit in his seat. His smile fading a bit. “You see I don't actually like using violence that much. It's actually part of why I let Tess continue to tag along.”

“So what do you do exactly?” Katelil inquired, as she adjusted herself in order to alleviate a cramp in her back.

“Well I guess I'm a professional middle man. I get hired by corporations or people who wish to seek out services of members of the otherworld, as I like to call it.”

“Ok?” Katelil said not sure if she misheard or fully comprhended what it was Charles was saying, “Couldn't they just hold a sayonce or something?”
“Well they could, I don't know how well it'd work, first of all with information being as spread thin and watered down it's kind of hard to find out what exactly you need to do.”

“Right, and why do you think I might be able to help you?”

“Well, you see my current job involves trying to negotiate with a fellow who is a tad racist. He won't talk to me about business as I'm human. That's why I thought you could help.”
