This is a detail from an exhibit of Carboniferous sea life of the Bear Gulch Formation at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. This diorama depicts Caridosuctor populosum an ancient coelacanth, a relative if the "living fossil" Latimeria.
The seas were dominated by exotic shark relatives at this time.
