I used the lowest f-stop I could giving me a shallow depth of field and blurring the lights at the back

Oooh. I'll definitely have to try that. What kind of camera are you using?

(I'm very new to photography, so I love prying other photographers for their techniques. XD )

At the moment I'm using a bridge camera Fuji finepix (details of the shot can be seen in the lower right corner of this page. With a bit of luck I will finally be able to get my hands on a decent DSLR this Christmas.
