Well, for all those of you who wanted more Wholock in my gallery... I can only apologise.
I like to think that Sherlock and the Doctor are secretly good friends. (Despite the fact that Sherlock said he didn't have any.)
The Doctor gives him a call every now and again if he needs help in his adventures.
In this universe, the back story is basically as follows. I'm imagining that 'The Reichenbach Fall' and 'The Wedding of River Song' happened at round about the same time, and, since they're friends, they told each other that they thought they were going to die. When neither of them die, the Doctor texts Sherlock (Ooh, let's say the day after he has dinner with Amy and Rory) to tell him that he's alive. So is Sherlock, it seems.
Don't misinterpret the 'Let's have dinner'. They're friends. And they're both glad that the other isn't dead.
I'm not sure if I like it or not. The story behind it is a bit wibbly, and I hope it makes sense.
