I have seen this floating around a while, so to speak, and I'm delighted to find its origin.
The image is extraordinary; excellent work, indeed. There is a glistening wetness to the cephalopod's skin that contrasts nicely with the dry, serene interior -- and yet he looks like he's quite thoroughly there.
I've written a science fiction novel about intelligent octopuses, and this image is the right size for the largest of them. This art has been quite handy for me to have the right mental picture in mind.

there is a band in australia called BlueJuice, and their single Broken Leg has an album cover that looks REMARKABLY like this...and I know this picture came out before the single.
