dude chill, you expect me to get pissed off because of different opinions? hahah. for me, ben 10 ultimate alien was fun but it was half-assed, and i thought if you want brainless fun show you should go all the way, so i thought omniverse went all the way and the design was refreshing. i guess i just love childish stuff hahahah

Very good designs, much better and more "alien" than the cheap bullshit of Omniverse.
You could redesign the characters because I hate the look of Gwen, Grandpa Max and Kevin in that series. And you could make the same for Eunice, Queen Elena in form-Chip, Sunny, Plumbers Helpers, and other supporting characters that were wasted on Omniverse.

Well, honestly it depends. You just happened to draw three of the few designs I like. Those I hate are Big Chill (though technically it's a REdesign), Molestache, Walkatrout, the Worst and Bloxx, amongst others.
Also, as far as I am concerned, bad design is the LAST of Omniverse's problem.

Indeed. I also hate Atomix, because I feel his design is way too toyetic and robot-like. That and he manages to be both overpowered and uninteresting. Now those I like, let's see.... Whampire I feel is disappointing, but not horrible; just a bit uncreative compared to the very creative designs of the other Anur aliens. Kickin Hawk is way too silly to my taste, and more importantly I cannot get over the fact they gave a bulky design with big arms and small legs to a character who's supposed to fight with KICKS. Talk about missing the point.
Overall, I dislike in Omniverse the goofyness of the designs and the fans many of them (like Bloxx) just don't feel like aliens anymore. But I have no problem with the bright colors and I do like the fact they gave them clothes again. Though some clothes feel unecessary (did we REALLY need a luchador mask on Rath?)

You didn't like their Ben 10,000? That's unexpected; most had a positive reaction. What did you dislike about him?
Personally I am indifferent to this Paradox, but I agree on all others. I especially find frustrating Vilgax's case: you would think that after the massive roar from the fans about his villain decay in AF, they would have learnt better, but NOOOOOOOOOO! They had to make him afraid of Ma Vreedle, and have everybody mention him for the sake of jokes! And it's not as bad as AF because..... his design "kinda" look closer to the Original Series? You gotta be kidding me! And don't even get me started with Kevin's new design and attitude....
On a note though, they did a nice job with Malware. It's a shame he lasted only one arc.

i dont hate it, i even love the fact he had the 2 omnitrix. the design with green and white is no good for me. paradox is like a steampunk timelord doctor who. i see your vilgax point, i dont know about kevins attitude, is he different? and malware had an ok design, but the character itself i have seen before.

O, so it's the DESIGN you dislike^^ Gotta agree on it. Those two color just don't really work on him. They should have stick to either black and white or black and green.
I see your point wit Paradox. And I liked Malware because compared to most characters, he at least had an origin (something surprisingly rare nowadays), was treated seriously and was a genuine treath. Literally all the main antagonists who followed him, minus maybe the Rooters (who had.... other problems) and Maltruant (who we still barely know anything about so far), had comical quirks, too short story arcs and were defeated in either too easy or humiliating way. When they make the INKURSEANS major villains for a story arc, you know something is wrong.
As for Kevin... well, I might be a bit harsh so I will try to give you a fairer vision. For most of the series, he is still a fairly minor character, but has a tendency to be beaten up even more frequently than in AUF, and more importantly took a major level in jerkass: in the first episode where he returns, we find out he had a Tetramand fiancee, Looma, who he agreed to bethrod just so he could strike a deal with her father (a powerful warlord) to get an indestructible engine for his car. When the time comes for the wedding, Looma comes to claim him... and he deals with it by pulling a scheme so Ben ends up bethroded to her instead of him. And Ben understandably complains about it, he promptly leaves. Many fans felt this was Argit-level of jerkassery (ironic considering Argit himself called him out for it in the episode). Aside from this and the lame redesign, there wasn't much to say about Kevin since he no longer had a big role... until the Rooter story arc, where they massively retconned his backstory.

As you wish^^ Well, let's see... (I apologize in advance if you already knew anything about this, but since I am not sure how far you have been following I'll do a recap of everything in this arc)
Basically we find out that, in the time between the Original Series and Alien Force, back when Kevin was in the Null Void and right after he escaped jail thanks to Quarrel (I think), he was found and taken by a Black Op branch of the Plumbers, the Rooters. The Rooters then experimented on him, and found a way to use his energy absorbsion power to give humans alien abilities. All the Plumber's Kids from Alien Force (Alan, Pierce, Manny...) weren't really half-alien, but regular humans who were used as test subjects. They had no memory of this because they had their memory erased. Also, half of Kevin's backstory from Alien Force was a lie: Devin Levin never existed, it was all fake memories the Plumbers put in Max's brain and Ragnarok was the Rooter agent who implanted those fake memories; the Osmosians aren't an alien species (Osmos IV never existed), but a human subspecie who are essentially the Ben 10 Universe equivalent of Marvel's mutants, and Kevin is the only one of his kind to have his specific power (Aggregor was, according to the writers, a Rooter experiment gone rogue); the idea he was of alien blood was, again, a fake memory implanted in Kevin's head by the Rooters.
Now, the Rooters state they did all of this because they were trying to create weapons against a "coming storm". Said Storm turns out to be.... Ben. They believe Ben is a threat because such a powerful weapon shouldn't be in the possession of "an immature child". So Kevin and the Plumbers' Helpers were sent to get close to Ben and eliminate him.
Anyway, Proctor Servantis, the Rooter leader, eventually take control of all the Plumbers' Helpers, convinces Kevin (who apparently he cannot mind control) that Ben needs to be killed, and has Ben captured before trying to destroy him and the Omnitrix on a subatomic level. After a fight where Kevin mutates AGAIN and Ben scarred his face as Swampfire, giving him a X-shaped scar on the chin similar to the one he had as Kevin 11,000, Kevin reveals he was just pretending to believe the Rooters' crap all along, since he genuinely sees Ben like a brother and believes he is a hero. He then frees the Plumbers' Helpers, they kick the Rooters' ass, the Magistrata (Plumber leader) punishes the Rooters by traping them in the Null Void, and Kevin turns back to normal, end of the episode.
Feel free to formulate your opinion^^

i thought this was gonna actually be kevins turning point to be kevin 11 000. but i couldnt let go of kevin yet too so im glad hes still a good guy. you know i think when the story is written, its sounds good. the execution however, with damn terrible puns and stupid stuff happening around made me uninterested. i wish the story got abit more complex and creative, also the characters more three-dimensional.

Darinas In reply to leonardovincent [2014-11-13 13:03:03 +0000 UTC]
Agreed; the story had some good concepts and elements, but a terrible execution. And on paper I actually like Kevin's arc here. What I don't like on the other hand, is the Rooters' plan, as it's completely nonsensical. I mean, allow me to show you how this make no sense:
1) "Alright, see this kid who wears the most powerful weapon in the Universe and never committed any crime with it, but used it to save billions of lifes several time? Well, just because he MIGHT go rogue and kill us all one day, we will kill him using the creepy kid who has basically similar powers and actually IS homicidal!"
2) Why go through all those troubles to create those half-aliens to fight Ben? I mean, it's not like he is invincible. Vilgax had no powers and he managed to defeat him in the Original Series just by punching him a lot. Now if they were trying to create people to CONTAIN him should he go rogue in opposition to killing him just in case, I would buy it, but here? Seriously?
3) Killing Ben was completely unnecessary; they could have just taken the Omnitrix away from him, especially during the 5 years where he stopped wearing it and kept it in his room, and destroyed it without having to murder a child. Hell, technically he knows how to remove it now so they could just force him to remove it!
4) They tried to kill Ben by putting him in a machine that would destroy him and the Omnitrix a subatomic level, thus ensuring he wouldn't be able to come back. Now the problem is, Azmuth already created like four different versions of the Omnitrix before; had they succeeded, what would have prevented him from creating a new one and finding a new owner?
5) Killing Albedo, who has exactly the same abilities than Ben and is genuinely a dangerous criminal, was out of question because?
Now I am all for villains who have genuinely well-intentioned methods and are extremist, but when there are so many peaceful ways the conflict could have been solved, this just no longer works.
Anyway, I agree with you: the bad humor and stupid puns are annoying, and I would enjoy the show much more if the characters were developped. Which actually makes me think: what kind of development would you give to the characters? Like, let's say, Ben and Julie? Personally I have ideas of my own, but I am curious about your own...
On a note, a future episode came up recently, and they confirmed Kevin is still a good guy in the future, though he still looks the same than Kevin 11,000. So I guess you can be reassured on that part.

i really do dislike the omniverse designs. It's not that i don't like the style, because it's pretty much the same one as Transformers Animated, which i adored, i find it just really doesn't fit in with Ben 10. I don't like what they did to Gwen and her design!
