This is so cool... it's like Dark Sonic is chastising Sonic once again for not using him, as Sonic only allows himself to be anything but the hero. Like the two clearly care for each other but because Dark Sonic doesn't align with Sonic's morals, he goes unused and is forced to watch Sonic (who is accepting of the pain) suffer.Β Β

I don't think that's shadow. He has no stripes and is wearing Sonic's shoes, as well as he has no chest fluff. I think it's Dark Sonic actually.
