Description Type 42 CR/Lynx-class Rapid Assault Vehicle (RAV-27)
Width: 3.07 Meters
Length: 6.24 Meters
Height (to top of turret): 2.31 Meters
Engines: Type 42 CR/Endurance Engine 440 KW (Liquid-methane fueled pistonless rotary engine, electric drive transmission)
Weaponry: Type 42 NV/28St (105mm) High-velocity Rocketgun in oscillating turret mount, Type 42 CR/4St (15mm) "Eviscerator" Coaxial Revolver Machine gun
Additional equipment: Radio equipment

Maximum speed: 70 KM/h

Mass: 27 tons

Role: Rapid assault vehicle

Design: The Lynx is a moderately-sized assault tank with a low target profile and very high speed.

The most distinctive feature of the tank is its turret, which is, in common with most other light Cytaari armored vehicles, in a stabilized oscillating turret mount. This turret permits the high-caliber, high-velocity gun to use an autoloader. Necessarily, the ammo stored in the turret reduces the vehicles survivability. To reduce the odds of crew fatalities, the rear section of the turret is fit with blowout panels. The main cannon of the Lynx normally fires 105mm high velocity rocket-assisted fin-stabilized APTW (Armor-Piercing Thermobaric Warhead) rounds. Smoke grenade launchers are fit on either side of the turret.

Another distinctive feature is the treads and suspension, which are built wider than typical and with overlapping roadwheels. The tank is fit with belleville washer suspension which is easy to fit and maintain.

Armor of the vehicle ranges from 10 to 75mm of cold-rolled cobalt steel with a thin gel spacer for protection against spalling. Armor is thickest at the flat section of the front glacis, and is thinnest on the top of the rear of the tank. (the frontal sloped armor section is 50mm thick, the sides are 35mm, and the rear is 20mm)

The Lynx has a crew of three: The commander and gunner are in the turret, while the driver is in the middle section of the hull. The engine is placed in front of the driver, with fuel tanks on the sides of the tank. Additional ammo stowage is placed in the rear of the vehicle.

History: The Lynx was developed as the standard assault tank of the Cytaari armed forces. The relatively light armor of the vehicle was intended to protect it against infantry weapons and aircraft autocannons, rather than providing heavy protection against enemy armored units. The vehicle was also intended to serve as the basis for various other armored vehicles- as a result, the suspension and treads were built to hold significantly heavier weight than the Lynx, so that they would not be taxed by modifications increasing the armor or armament of the vehicle.

The Lynx became the most widely produced tank in the Cytaari armed forces, outpacing both the smaller ARV-10 "Ocelot" reconnaissance tank and the heavy AS-55 "Jaguar" assault tank. As a result it saw action in nearly every engagement of the War of Three Leagues. While relatively lightly armored, its high speed and high firepower allowed it to pose a massive threat to enemy armor even at long ranges.

Meta: Another tank design! spent probably four days on this one? I tried to make another camo scheme but it wasnt turning out well so I just stuck to what I know works with the Type 42 Maltese Tiger camo. Without the stripes, since my drawing pad has been acting up. This is the last design from my first year of modelling, so kind of caps off my progress for the year! I'll be spending a long while on tutorials now to improve my skills, so expect to see some new stuff (with some actually new scenes and camo) when I swing by again.

Although just looking at it the most obvious similarity is to post-war french tanks like the AMX-13 or Char 25t, the Lynx was inspired to at least a similar extent by the Entwicklung series of German tank designs, something that you can probably see if you look closely at the treads (the Lynx has the same overlapping but non-interleaved roadwheels system, as well as belleville washer suspension.) The vehicle is also very low to the ground with low clearance, similar to the E-10. Actually, it ended up not being as short as I intended it to be. If I was modelling this again, I'd make it shorter both lengthwise and heightwise.

Sidebar: The "Endurance" pistonless engine should be considered equivalent to a turbodiesel engine in terms of size, efficiency, and power.

I will almost certainly upload more images of this particular model, especially since I'll want to try making new camo schemes for it soon. Still kinda working on making good materials for things.
