a coloring tutorial! i was going to combine a drawing tutorial into this but decided against it. i'm glad i did because it would have been so long.

i also forgot to add that i use photoshop CS2 but i'm sure it doesn't matter.

hope you like it!

You're kidding me?! You put a tutorial up?! W--wow! And to think I haven't seen it yet..well, now I have!

This is your first tutorial, right? Nice job! And yes, this information will be stored in my Photoshop Tricks File, located in the dusty part of my brain. Eheh. Anyways, great job.

leigher In reply to SugaCubeIx [2009-03-02 23:03:00 +0000 UTC]

yeah this is my first tutorial! it's not very special and pretty simple. I wish I knew how to do more stuff on photoshop!

SugaCubeIx In reply to leigher [2009-03-03 09:12:25 +0000 UTC]

Me too. Actually, my mum went to a course today on stuff to do with it. So, I'm kinda hoping she can show me stuff, although I'd be shamed slightly if she knew more than me, 'cause...well...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leigher In reply to SugaCubeIx [2009-03-04 04:32:18 +0000 UTC]

lol, I can't imagine taking a course on it. That's pretty awesome though. There's so much you can do with photoshop, even the instruction manual gives me a headache.

lol, yeah my parents know more about computers than me and it's a little strange sometimes but also very helpful to have someone who knows that they're doing!.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SugaCubeIx In reply to leigher [2009-03-06 08:34:42 +0000 UTC]

I know, aye. I didn't even bother reading the instruction manual, though I'm thinking maybe I should.

I know there's alot of stuff you can do with it, I know that. All those tools that I haven't used. But then again, I suppose I'm not willing to experiment just yet. Though I'm thinking I should.

The funny thing is, my parents ask me sometimes what's going on. Is that something to be ashamed of?

dbdnfndfn [2009-02-25 07:37:41 +0000 UTC]

Can you clarify that step when you're adding the textures? I got kind of confused.

Great tutorial though! It really helped. :]

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

leigher In reply to dbdnfndfn [2009-02-25 09:43:28 +0000 UTC]

of course. create a new layer above everything and paste your texture onto that layer. Set the layer style to color burn (change the opacity of the layer to suit your picture). create a new layer and paste a different texture onto that layer. set this to layer style to color burn too - adjust the opacity. then create a third layer and paste your texture onto that layer. set this layer to screen. then change the opacity.

this goes for the example in the picture. if you want to try with other textures/number of layers/layer styles, it probably varies every time. ^^ hope this clarified things!

dbdnfndfn In reply to leigher [2009-02-26 01:32:51 +0000 UTC]

stupid question: how do you paste the texture onto that layer?

It says it doesn't allow the textures to be used because the selected layer has nothing on it. Or is it that I'm not supposed to use the Filter>Texture>whatever on the toolbar?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

leigher In reply to dbdnfndfn [2009-02-26 23:33:44 +0000 UTC]

you're not using filters. you have to find an image on the internet, then paste that image and use that as a texture.

I should be a bit more clear. How do you actually...put ON the textures?

Lol, this is helpful because I also have a very basic knowledge of photoshop. I just have to get myself more familiar with it.
