(God, this looks even weirder than the first one...)
(also, the whole time I was like, "I can draw hands now wtf?!")
"WAKE UP, STEWART!"
Walter immediately opened his eyes and came face to face with a dishevelled five-eyed creature—the one and only Patrick Watkins, his best-friend-but-not-best-friend— already in his suit. None of them would ever admit their friendship. It was an old tactic they used in order to trick people to think that their families do not have the best relationship, thus cannot unite when the other is in trouble. People were more open to one because they did not have to fear the other.
At least Patrick agreed to be Walter's best man, so that was a plus. The rabbit did not feel close to any of his friends as much as to the shepsky.
"W-what is it, Patrick?" Walter sat up and immediately felt his foot hurting. "Ouch! What are you doing in my house anyway?"
"It's your big day!" Patrick yelled cheerfully and helped the rabbit on his feet. "I have to make sure you're prepared."
The rabbit looked around, grabbing his cane. The bed was empty. "Where is Alan?"
"He left an hour ago."
"What?!" he panicked. "Are we late?!"
"No, we've got plenty of time. Come with me, we made you breakfast."
"We?"
Patrick led him to the kitchen and smiled when Walter's groomsmen—a few co-workers and some members of his part of the Insomnia Dreamers—shouted at the same time, "SURPRISE!"
The rabbit, freaked out from all of the noise, cleared his throat and greeted them, "Hello, gentlemen." He saw all kinds of salads and cheese, exactly what he loved. Patrick knew him too well. "I appreciate your presence."
"Sit down and enjoy the food with us," the shepsky chuckled and pushed him closer to the table. Walter seated himself and got a cup of tea. The others sat around the table and started eating.
Patrick was standing in front of the rabbit. "How is it, Stew?"
"Uh, great," Walter said but did not seem like he was satisfied. The frown on his face was showing the discomfort and pain he felt. He was clenching his teeth, shutting his eyes, breathing heavily.
"What's wrong?"
"My leg. Alan heals it every day, but now..."
"Fuck, I completely forgot about this," the shepsky facepalmed. "I'll call him."
"Do you want him to come here?" the rabbit hoped. He wanted to see him so badly. He did not know why, though.
"Of course not, that's stupid," Patrick laughed, "he's probably already clothed, and you can't see him before the ceremony."
Walter's ears flopped. "What will you call him for then?"
"He'll tell me where to find the spell, and I'll heal your leg myself."
"Are you sure you are able to do it?"
"I anaesthetize my victims all the time, this can't be much different."
"Fine, I trust you, but call him right now. I do not know for how long I am able to take it."
"Yeah, yeah, the red book... Yes, right in the middle," Alan was nodding. "It's written under Healing Chronic Pain and it's highlighted... Yeah, the green part, excellent! Basically, you GENTLY touch his ankle and do the spell—it's the least sensitive place. Then, while the pain is going away, you can move lower to the sole and then to his fingers. Remember, it has to be slow and strong, it should last at least a day. Okay, good luck! If it doesn't work, call me, and I'll come... Fine, thank you, bye!"
"Who was it?" his sister Betty asked furiously. For some reason, she wanted to take care of her older brother before the ceremony by herself instead of doing it with their other siblings. She could not handle Alan's decision that his best man will not be her, but his brother Connor, thus wanted to spend as much time with him as was physically possible. She would rather have him the whole day honestly. She did not like Walter at all, since he was the son of the man everyone had feared the most. She just could not believe he was not the same.
"Patrick Watkins," Alan replied and sighed. "I'm stupid, you know? I heal Walter's foot every day for the last—I don't even know anymore, three or four years?—and I forget about it today. Poor bunny."
"You should've made him suffer the whole day, so that he can think twice about marrying you." She grabbed his collar and tried to tether a blue bow tie around it.
"Stop it," he barked, threw away the bow tie, and took a regular black tie instead. "At least pretend you like him for one day. That wouldn't kill you."
"I'm telling you, brother, you're making a HUGE mistake," she hissed. "He's evil. He'll destroy your life."
"Why do you care anyway? It's none of your business."
"Of course it's my business! You're my brother!"
"Your brother here is a responsible adult," he laughed and turned around to look in the mirror. He looked very, very handsome with his black suit, black tie, white button-down shirt, and most importantly, his charming face. He wanted to have a normal dress code for the wedding, nothing too colourful as some of his friends had, since both he and Walter wanted at least traditional-looking ceremony.
He sighed, "And trust me—decisions like marrying someone is a thing I thought about a lot before making it real. He's the one."
"I liked Tom more."
"He cheated on me."
"Kyle was also great."
"He wanted my money, not me."
"And what about Ezra? He was the last before Walter, right? You haven't even told us you two broke up until you brought that fucking rabbit to our house."
"He cheated on me too. And if you really want to know how I know that—it was the day I met Walter. We were supposed to discuss our future plans with the city and our groups in a gay bar—"
"Who the fuck discusses something in a gay bar?!"
"I wanted to make him a little uncomfortable, so that he could more likely agree to my suggestions. It turned out he likes men too, so that was a fail..."
"And how exactly is this related to losing Ezra?"
"Yeah, right—before Walter came, I was just sitting at a table and was looking around until I saw Ezra with another man. That wouldn't be a problem, I'm not that easily jealous of someone, it had to be a friend, right? Well, it wasn't a friend—they started dancing together, kissing, all the fun stuff he was supposed to do with me, you know. And I saw everything."
Betty was quiet for a while. "Um... He seemed quite nice to me, I can't believe he had done that..."
"Well, he had. Too bad for him though—breaking up with me is never a good idea."
"Why? Revenge?"
"Something like that, yes. They either lose the money I have or the respect of the higher classes. Nothing that's my fault, of course. Oh God, Ezra's breakup was the best!"
"Really? Tell me!" she smiled maliciously suddenly. She loved these juicy stories.
"I was pretty devastated after I confronted him. I thought about calling off the meeting at first, but then I realized I needed to think about something else. Then Walter came and immediately recognized something was wrong. I told him about Ezra. And can you guess what the rabbit did?"
"No," she chuckled. "What?"
"He was making that fucker clumsy the whole evening in front of his date. Like, he used magic to spill his drink a couple of times, or to make him stumble over his feet, or just to make fun of him in general. It was a fun night."
She started laughing. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? That's a great revenge! But why did Walter do that?"
"I don't know honestly—maybe he just wanted to make me feel better. You know, he's so distrustful, but I somehow managed to gain his trust from the start. And he was patient with me even when I messed up. What I want to say is," he smiled and grasped his sister's shoulders, "that he's perfect for me. He doesn't need my money, because he has his; he has never cheated on me in the four years we've been together, because he wouldn't find such a charming, perfect guy like me ever again; and he's also super tall, so he can help me reach high shelves."
"The last one was a joke, wasn't it?"
"No...?"
"Uh, okay, I guess. That still doesn't change my mind though." She crossed her arms on her chest.
"That's your problem now, not mine. I'm marrying him today and nothing's gonna stop me, not even you. Now," he pushed her out of his way, "I'd like to see my other groomsmen."
"No."
He glanced at her in disbelief. "Why? Are you jealous?"
"I'm not gonna leave until I persuade you to back out of the wedding!"
"As I said, sister—nothing's gonna stop me. I love that bunny. He's the only one who's willing to spend time with me until I die without cheating or stealing cash. And if you really liked my previous boyfriends so much, you can try your luck—I heard that most of them are bisexual."
"You can't leave me like that!"
He froze. "Leave you? What you're talking about?"
She burst into tears. She was shaking violently as well as producing the most heartbreaking sounds Alan had ever heard. He approached her and hugged her as tightly as possible, knowing she most probably just cries for attention as she always did. He liked to play along though, it was fun.
"Sh-sh-shhh, that's alright, sis, don't cry..."
She leaned into the embrace and sobbed even more.
"What's the matter?"
"D-do you think I-I want to stay alone with m-m-my family?! Do you t-think you can leave me right now?!"
"I'm not leaving, you, Bett..."
"O-of course you are! Y-you're gonna leave w-with that stupid bunbun and never s-show up again!"
"That's not true!" He pushed her back and looked her dead in the eye. "Listen, nothing's gonna change! I'll still be living in this city, I'll still be visiting you every other day, and I'll still be your rich older brother. I'll just have a different last name, that's all."
She quietened. "What...?"
"What did you think?"
"T-that you're gonna leave, start a family elsewhere..."
"I can't exactly leave when I'm ruling the city," he chuckled. "Also, you're not alone. Connor or Darwin can help you, too, even the girls. And mom and dad aren't that old yet. Calm down."
She wiped her tears off and laughed a little. "I'm so dumb."
"If it's the reason you hate Walter, then yeah, pretty much."
"Silly wolf."
"That's how Walter calls me!"
"I know—it's a good nickname. I think I'm gonna use it."
"Be a little more creative, sis."
"Nah, don't want to. Anyway..."
"Yeah?"
"Do you even want to start a family?"
"Uh, yes, definitely," he nodded. "We've filled out some papers already, so we're basically just waiting for other tests and then approval."
"Approval for what?"
"For becoming adoptive parents? They have to make sure we're not crazy murderers."
"Yeah, right, I didn't realize that."
He hugged her once more. "I know you're just worried about Gavin."
"He doesn't like me, you bet I am! Who'd care for him if not you?"
"Connor, Darwin, Emma, Francine... literally any of them could if mom and dad weren't able to. He doesn't need my magic that much. And he likes you, you're talking bullshit."
"He doesn't, trust me. I tried many times."
"We can ask him if you want."
"Fine, go ahead. I'm not gonna stop you anyway."
He let her go and opened the door. "Hey, siblings! You can come in!"
