Rare Tagwaes ears are smaller and point up. Their skin withers away less often so they are more susceptible to infection. Their tails are also smaller leading to it being very unlikely to have any children that survive.
If a rare Tagwae mates with a common Tagwae they may have a baby, but it's unlikely it will survive very long. If they do make a baby it's usually a mixture of rares and commons, it's very very rare they will have a legendary.
A legendary is a mixture of rare and common parts and may be very deformed if they survive. They are even more so prone to infection and death.

There is a Tagwae leader, she is a lengendary. She was one of the three children of a common and rare mix, one didn't survive long, the other lived for decades and she is the last remaining legendary alive. As far as she can tell, she's immortal but we can never know for sure.
