Description Finished Wolfman,
Baked Super Sculpey clay,
as you can see by the dark parts it seemed to cure much faster in the oven than previous sculptures so I actually ended up over cooking it slightly, thin areas go dark from over cooking, but its still in good condition thankfully and very hard.

The Tiny Beretta is actually quite large compared to the Wolfman, my mate calls him "Wolfy", it's a modified Beretta created just for Werewolves large hands, ironically I actually mistakenly made it too big in the sculpting process, but this explanation fits.

Took about 3-4 weeks to make.

Wow. That's just amazing.. it must have taken lots of motivation to finish it, but it totally worth it, it looks really amazingly good!
I'm really glad that the sculpture survived the cooking process, even if it was slightly overcooked.. That's probably why I sometimes like to stay with air drying clay, you would have less risk when it's finished Heh, but I guess when everthing turns out good, the polymer clay would give a much better result

Thank you! glad you like him!

Yeah I'm glad too, it came out well, and the slight overcooking hasn't hurt it at all, It's been painted with Undercoat and it looks great, all the details show up more clearly, will post some pictures when I can.

Polymer clay may have risks when cooking it, but you just need to make sure you cook it at low temperatures and to watch them constantly while cooking... much like baking food.

You're very welcome- it really looks great!

Yeah, the details really came out well

Hehe, except you don't going to eat the result afterwards! Hmm.. the problem is, I almost never use the oven, so I probably would have some problems in the beginning

Lol, imagine someone thinking that the clay was edible, I would laugh if someone tried eating it.

heh, I hardly use the oven either... cooking isn't one of my things...
yet I still manage to cook my sculptures, you just have to make sure to check the sculptures constantly.

That would be kinda difficult to eat- it's rather hard for doing so at least

Hehe, I really dislike to cook (somehow I just have no 'cook-talent' and I always fear it might tastes bad in the end.. ), but yeah, I think I would manage to cook a sculpture as well- as long as I got some instructions how long it needs (more or less) and the what the temperature should be like.

I'm not confident at cooking, its also something I don't really enjoy...
Clays usually have some instructions to follow, so I wouldn't worry, also you could always ask for help.

Yep, neither I do enjoy cooking- which is quite strange for woman I guess..
Yeah, I think so- probably I would first start with a test piece, before I would cook the final piece of a long work anyway- just to get sure I don't do anything wrong.

Great work. I don't think the overcooking poses a problem; it actually looks kinda cool with the gradient there. If that's not the case IRL, though, paint will cover it up nicely.

Thanks dude! I too liked the gradient on the ears etc, they kinda look like the real thing.
But now that it's painted with undercoat it looks way better, the detail just stands out amazingly now that its one color, I'll post some pictures soon, hopefully before Christmas.

What do you use as an undercoat?

Cant actually remember it now, but I think it was some undercoat from a model shop.

it looks great, the overcooking can be due to be too close to the heating (source), while baking...
But if and when you paint it , you won't see a thing.

Thanks so much!
Well, funny enough, I didn't realize it was too close to the top of the oven, thanks for pointing that out!
yes, that is true, hopefully I can get it painted somehow...

Well the important thing is it didn't overcook until the point it cracked nice job!

Lee99 In reply to Chromattix [2009-12-22 09:55:09 +0000 UTC]

True...did I say it cracked? if I did, I didn't meant it that way, It has thin layers that show up, they look like cracks...or something, I actually have no Idea, they wont show up on the paint job anyway.

Chromattix In reply to Lee99 [2009-12-22 09:58:21 +0000 UTC]

You didn't, I just meant lucky it didn't crack if it cooked in some parts faster than others

Lee99 In reply to Chromattix [2009-12-22 10:08:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see, It was lucky indeed. i need to cook it so it's not too close to any of the heat things...
