I knew I wanted to give my fairy Monarch Butterfly wings, and I happened to be at the library the day before this picture, so I made sure to pick up a book on butterflies just for this purpose. It is helpful to have reference material when ever possible.

I do agree that a little forest background would've been nice. I've nothing against backgrounds (check out my website or some of my earlier posted works on deviantART for examples), but the Tiny Cuties are meant to be more functional -- character designs for stickers and stuff like that, where backgrounds aren't so necessary.
