Description .... literally " god out of the machine" .... well, I wouldn't go that far, but it is the first thing that popped into my head.

Better than "Chewed Dog Toy" which is a title I've had floating around my head for a while now....

Apo 2.05 c++ something, sorry I can never remember. That ol' short term memory loss thingy raises it's ugly head once again.....

All Watched Over By Machines Of Loving Grace
Richard Brautigan

I like to think (and
the sooner the better!)
of a cybernetic meadow
where mammals and computers
live together in mutually
programming harmony
like pure water
touching clear sky.

I like to think
(right now, please!)
of a cybernetic forest
filled with pines and electronics
where deer stroll peacefully
past computers
as if they were flowers
with spinning blossoms.

I like to think
(it has to be!)
of a cybernetic ecology
where we are free of our labors
and joined back to nature,
returned to our mammal
brothers and sisters,
and all watched over
by machines of loving grace.

Betcha thought I wouldn't be able to find a poem for this one.

LOL.... I wasn't going to suggest you do that anyway. It doesn't seem like they can help so why bother ? It's only one more aggravation.

Very cool and the title is perfect!
Our "machines" are rapidly becoming our "Gods"..... Are they not?
"Welcome To The Machine" !!!
That short term memory loss is a real beast sometimes, isn't it?

You're right, sometimes it does seem as though machines are achieving a higher status than they should. And thank you !

Very cool, Lauren! And great title.

Alright...now where did that term come from?

laurengary In reply to JennDixonPhotography [2007-08-29 19:16:19 +0000 UTC]

What ..... desus ex machina ? Isn't it Latin ? I thought it was.

And thanks, btw ... I'm glag you like it hon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JennDixonPhotography In reply to laurengary [2007-08-29 20:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Right...it's a term used when Zeus would come down and fix everything in Greek plays. Sorry. I'm such a nerd when it come to this stuff sometimes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

laurengary In reply to JennDixonPhotography [2007-08-30 00:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Really ? I never knew that .... don't apologize, I love stuff like that. So it actually originates from the Greek plays then .... it's what ... a term to describe an action ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JennDixonPhotography In reply to laurengary [2007-08-30 01:12:11 +0000 UTC]

It's a literary term now, actually. Deus Ex Machina is when something out of the ordinary happens and affects a situation. Gandalf arriving at Helm's Hold with the rest of Rohan's army at the end of Two Towers is a great example. I've even heard that James Bond using one of Q's gadgets at the last second is even deus ex machina.

For the Greeks, they would literally lower actors, playing gods, onto the state with a crane in their plays, hence, "god of the machine."

Dang...that English degree finally came in handy!

LOL ! I may have to do one with that title. Since I have my own "peculiar" charms.

Though I really want to do one titled " French Kiss ".... doesn't that sound cool ? .... I just haven't come up with the right one yet.

Thank you, I'm glad you like the title.

And thank you so much for your kind comment about fractals.... you know it's funny, when I first started looking around a couple of years ago for wallpapers I didn't really like fractals either. All I looked for was photos. I have got so many stored flower photos, I can't begin to tell you.

Then one day I came across a simple little Apo flame & I fell in love with the flowing lines & the deep red the artist used & I really started to look at the abstracts in general & fractals in particular & I was hooked.

Thanks for dropping by & thanks for the fave too.

PS.... cool avi
