Description
The original Saffron Gatherer image found at Akrotiri was damaged by both the Minoan eruption of 1600 B.C. which buried and preserved it, and by the passage of 3,600 years. The original background is ecru. I chose to evoke the blue sky of ancient Thera. Also, the original foreground has lost some of its detail and color over the centuries. I added color and dimension, as well as some extra saffron plants for depth. Finally, I restored the patterns on the girl's blouse and flounced skirt.
