"Ha! Told you I'd leave a legacy!" That said, I wish Benedict well, and all my hope to Francis.

I'm not accusing him of being a Nazi, but the fact that he worked for the German police at the time of the holocaust is something worth looking into, i assume though that this particular cartoon is because of the pedophilia scandal

"He worked for the German police at the time of the holocaust". Well, you have nearer to explain what do you mean with this sentence. The police in Germany had also other things to do than to kill or deportate jews, that did the SS. Joseph Ranzinger himself was a youth a this time and had (sic!) to help at the anti-aircraft warfare.
You could also ask, what my grandfather did as soldier "at the time of the holocaust" in France. He was sitting in a fortress in West-France because the Americans came. And it was not voluntary...

More or less. I meant chiefly his attitude towards certain wrong things that took place in Church and that he pretended to ignore (eg pedophily) for a certain time.

Now we can ask how he "ignored" "certain things". The pope is like other people dependet on other people. In the "Williamson-case" one of his employee found the "Holocaust-interview" too late, so Benedict wasn´t informed. In the pedophily-scandal the most cases happened before his time as pope, even as cardinal. And they were often the fail of the responsible bishops which was even critizised in an official letter: [link] (Part 7 and 11). And this was also the problem: That he not only didn´t know what happened there but also that "connection" to the people was broken. Perhaps intnetotional, the offices of the Vatican are still working on this case to find out, some bishops in Ireland who resigned.
But not only in the church happened fails. But also in the society itself like the "New York Times" wrote about the "fater-Murphy-case" in the USA: "“Father Murphy not only was never tried or disciplined by the church’s own justice system, but also got a pass from the police and prosecutors who ignored reports from his victims, according to the documents and interviews with victims.”" But in the most media the report was often reduced in an negative supervicial way that only the pope was guilt.
Why? Because he´s the "big boss" of the church and he has to know such things. That such an "all-knowing" is nt possible for a human, even for the pope, forget the most people, who critizise that it is not possible to be the "representative of god". Ratzinger himself worked a lot to solve crimes inside the church. Often with success.
So I think it´s a bit unwordly what some news reported about this cases. In my country, Germany, he was even accussed by some strange journalists that he did nothing again the pedophily-scandal at the famous "Odenwaldschule" [link] . He couldn´t do anything because the school was neither in his diocese (he was in München-Freising, the school is in Hesse, hundrets of miles away) nor a school of the church (it was an "humanistic-alternative" school, the teachers had the ideal of "philosophers"). Even the younger teachers didn´t know what there happened. Not untill the medias reported about the abuse in the church the former students trust the journalist and the police. Now this is nearly forgotten. Again.

Have you also noticed that he looks kind of like H.R. Giger? You know, the artist with the dark, organic stuff, most notably the design for "Alien"...
