Description

A downhill battle between two FR sports cars from two different eras.

The '23 Toyota GR86 (ZN8) is the successor to the GT86 (ZN6), itself a spiritual successor to the AE86 from the '80s.

Sporting a naturally-aspirated 2.4L FA24D flat-4 boxer engine developed by Subaru, it is not a particularly powerful car, but its light weight and balanced chassis make up for it, delivering a thrilling driving experience even at low speeds. Factor in the affordable price and it is no surprise why this car has already become a favourite among enthusiasts across the globe, boasting a wide array of aftermarket options.

The '88 Nissan Silvia K's Aero (S13), on the other hand, is a true classic.

Initally equipped with a turbocharged 1.8L CA18DET inline-4 engine, the S13 Silvia became known for its styling and its balanced, sporty chassis, which made it a perfect fit for drifting. The relatively low price and extensive aftermarket support did the rest, ensuring the S13 would become one of the most popular sports cars in '90s Japan.

35 years after its debut, the S13 is still a beloved sports car and a fairly common sight at drift events around the world, though its increasing desirability and the rarity of well-kept examples have caused prices to skyrocket in recent years.
