Lovely, as usual ^.^... I can't get past how much I like the faces. Must be the eyes and mouth shapes that get me

Yay! I was just thinking about how it's been a while since you posted so I'm excited to see this! Even more so, because I think it is awesome! @_@

I like how cute and upbeat it is! XD The colorful, starry background is fun and adds a cute and playful energy and focuses the attention on the pretty girl.

And she is super pretty. I like how she's cute and fun, but she's also got a bit of attitude to her. She knows she's cute and she's showing off, and you can really read that in the eyes and smile and in the pose. I like how big the smile is, and how it feels very animated and lively, and I love her big eyes.

Her hair is a lot of fun. I love the flow and movement it has, and I love how the coloring, the highlights and the darker tones are visible in a way that adds to that active look, to that sense of motion and energy in the hair. The coloring doesn't just add color and lighting, but it also supports and reflects the direction of the hair.

Her pose is so cute. I love how expressive her body language is, especially her arms. The way she's standing with her hips pushed a bit to the side give us a clue about her attitude and personality, but I feel the arms are what really sell it. The one arm behind her head and the other held down at her side with the hand posed like it is really feel to me like a "showing-off-how-gorgeous-I-am" look. So much fun!

I like her dress. I like how the the skirt has a lot of energy as it kinda flutters about, and I like the purple-y colored bracelets. I like the way her necklace and earrings shine, reflecting the shininess of stars.

Love the coloring as a whole. Lots of life and energy in it.

Thank you so much hun! I've been really busy with work so I don't have a lot of time to do art in my spare time. I got a job as a storyboard artist so I'm drawing all day but sadly I'm not allowed to post any of that on the internet X(

This was really fun to make, especially the colouring, so I'm really glad you enjoy the final result!

I figured that you were busy with real world work; it's all good. And I imagine storyboarding keeps you super busy. @__@

Do you find working in art on projects others created/started (I'm assuming this is the case when you can't share the work on your own; correct me if I'm wrong) do you feel kinda burnt out about drawing, because doing art has become a job, or is it more super-exciting that you get to draw all the time and create for your job instead of working in a bank or something and doing art on the side?

For a long time growing up I always thought that I didn't want to do art as a career because if I did it for a job I'd end up hating it. For the past few years I regret that, regret having not pursued art from the start of college instead of going back for a somewhat less intense art schooling after I finished my business degree. Though, part of the impetus behind that was other people encouraging me to pursue what I thought/think is my passion. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about the idea either way right now.

So, I'm just kind of curious how someone who's actually working in art, in storyboarding, feels about it. I don't mean to sound like a jerk if I came off that way asking this -- I feel like I didn't word it as eloquently as I could've.

Also: is your storyboarding job for animation, live-action, games or something else entirely?

And yes, I very much enjoy the final result! Your art is and always has been tons and tons of fun to see show up in my devwatch. : )

Heya,
Sorry for the slow reply.

It's a bit of both really. I do get burnt out drawing all the time, though working on other peoples projects doesn't really bother me as its what I always knew I'd be doing in this career. By the time I get back from work I find it really hard to find the energy to start working on my own art. Once I get into it I love it but its finding that initial push to start something that's the problem. Its too tempting just to relax in front of the TV after I've been drawing for 7 hours during the day.

On the other hand I love working in animation and can't imagine myself ever doing a job that doesn't involve art. It's what I've wanted to do since I was a kid! I feel really lucky to be doing the job I dreamed of doing as a kid. Not a lot of people get that opportunity.

If art is what you truly want to do as a job then you should go for it. Its hard to find work and the pay is poor so you've got to be really passionate about the craft for the enjoyment of your job to be its main appeal.

I do think that its perfectly fine to keep art as a hobby. There's a lot less pressure. You're doing the art for yourself and not some client who may completely try and control what you're doing so you don't really get to be creative at all. If you're happy doing another job then carry on with that and keep art as a fun thing you can do in your own time. It may end up developing into something that you could use to make a living off in the end. Its all about what you want to do in your life. Don't let other people persuade you into a career.

Hope that helps and makes sense. I'm struggling to write down what I mean. Basically I love working as an artist but it has slowed down my personal work. It may all be because I'm lazy.....very lazy.

I'm storyboarding for animation at the moment BTW. Just kind of got the job by chance as I have no experience in storyboarding but I'm finding it really fun!

Don't worry about the slow reply -- I kinda dropped some heavy questions in your lap and I feel a little bad about that. ;

That said, I really appreciate your thoughtful response. It's given me a lot of things to think about, and helped me look at my ponderings in some different ways. And I totally understand what you mean about struggling to put what you mean into words! I have that problem a lot.

Thank you again! And I'm happy to hear that you're having fun with your storyboarding job! : )

Very well done! I like the shading throughout the picture. The colour choice for her hair, eyes and lips work very well. My only real complaint is that her thighs are thicker than her waist, which throws me off a bit. Aside from the problems with the proportions, though, it looks very good.
