This was a quick and fun little portrait of a made up character for Sailor Moon. I guess I'll give a little background, hehe.

This character is supposed to predate the current age her name is Sailor Gaia. She was at one point Endymion's sister. She falls in love with her own father and once her mother finds out she is sort of ostracized from the family. Over time she becomes bitter and angry since her family was supporting her brother's relationship with open arms. Eventually she comes across Sailor Surya (represents the sun) who feels she should have reign over all the planets. They team up and try to kill the queen of Earth by giving her Queen Metalia (in the form of a gift). Realizing that it was a trap the Queen sends them away with her crazy Queen powers and kills herself in the process. Gaia is sealed with in a tree and Surya is entombed in some debris orbiting the sun.

And that is my explanation for how Metalia got from the sun to the Earth and why Sailor “Sun” and “Earth” don’t exist.

As far as the art aspect goes. I’ve come to a realization that Anime isn’t my thing. And I’m ok with that. Personally I think that much of my practice with art will be devoted to painting and rendering like the old renaissance masters. I prefer it better I think, maybe it’s because I’ve grown out of anime? Who knows. But if you want to comment on this feel free, I think I’ll still do some anime every now and again so I can always take tips.
