Description Something else that I would generally not put in my gallery and will probably not stay there, but that I didn't want to condemn to scraps immediately because whatever, I do what I want.

Since no one is surprised by most of the content, I'll just skip that bit.

Kind of a mixed bag of wackiness here. There's a quote from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 15 Minutes in there, because "I'll make out with you if I have to!" might be the best desperate threat to give, ever, and Jamie's face really just kind of called for it.

Colored doodle is of Jamie and Polly wearing Barbie and Ken fashions from the late 60's (Zokko! and Ken A Go Go, respectively, because you just have to know this) because this is just how I roll. I also referenced the musical Hairspray underneath it, so now I've geeked out in some sort of trifecta from Hell and you can all start being ashamed to know me. Jamie got Two's recorder instead of the ukulele that the outfit originally came with, because I suspect there's little similarity in playing bagpipes and ukuleles.

Bottom in blue is the Doctor and his human Daleks Alpha, Beta and Omega, because I 'watched' Evil of the Daleks and was in love with every second of it. The Doctor playing train with child-like maybe-no-longer-killing-machines shrieking 'dizzy Daleks!' and "Friend!" just killed me.

Top right mauve-ish doodle and black doodles all go together and feature Jamie getting angry, frustrated, and kind of miserable about hearting at the Doctor. Hearts and emote speech bubbles kind of stab me deep in my 'aww' organ, whatever that is, so... that's what I drew.

And then, uh, some random other doodles to take up space, really. I have some other crap in my sketchbook still, but it's not actually terribly thrilling to look at. I'm working on fixing that, because one day I will actually just submit all my doodles to scraps like a normal person, and they'll be a mix of digital and traditional and whatever, this is already too long.

BBC and all that jazz.

I loved 'The Evil of the Daleks' It's the first of the re-cons that I REALLY managed to get into and enjoy. There was just so much wonderful content Jamie and Two trying to find the Tardis.. then some mega-clinging in Waterfield's shop... and the kiddy daleks and the Two/Jamie 'You and me, we're finished!' domestic...

And the line that the dalek says to Victoria has practically become a running joke in my family now. 'YOU WILL NOT FEED THE FLYING PESTS OUTSIDE'.

Everything... it's just love. And your drawings Oh Jamie...

Poor Jamie. He really is desperate isn't he?? There are little-kiddy Daleks??? WHERE WHERE WHERE????? My heart breaks for Jamie. *screams at the Doctor "JUST SNOG HIM ALREADY!!!!"* I love this pairing and I love you for loving this pairing. My life has got so much better since I discovered you and your fabulous drawings. And your tumblr page. That page is awesome. I think your drawings- all of them- are fantastic. I wish i could draw like you...*sigh* but on the upside...I can write fanfiction!!!

Oh and just a quick question before I faint of cuteness/awesomeness overload... What the hell is up with Zoe's sparkly catsuit?? I mean, I watched The Invasion and she was in this really nice dress and feather boa and then she's changed into that...that...monstrosity. In an army barracks/helicopter/thingummybobby no less. Is there something the Brigadier's not telling us??

Oh my.. Sorry about that. I got a bit carried away. *blushes and bites lip* Keep up the good work!!

The kid-Daleks are from Evil of the Daleks, a mostly missing serial. I watched the recon and sort of fell in the love with the whole thing. The Doctor plays with them and is sort of adorable and Jamie is very unsure about that bullshit.

I'm so excited my Doctor/Jamie-ness has improved your life some! That is fabulous, thank you! They are my favorite thing, so I am glad my enthusiasm is infecting other people! I'll have more people to talk to about it, haha.

Ha, Zoe was wearing that outfit in the previous serial, and at the beginning of the Invasion, the animation people just messed it up. She got it in the TARDIS, or perhaps even brought it with her TO the TARDIS, but it wasn't in the barracks originally, at least!

Of course Jamie would be unsure about all that bullshit, with the Doctor it's essential you're unsure about all that bullshit otherwise you won't last five minutes around him!!!

Thank goodness, I was debating with my friends about the appearence of the shiny catsuit- we had decided that if it really was the end of the world she wanted to go out in a metaphorical blaze of sparkles. I am also very happy that it didn't belong to the brigadier-my mind was being flooded with all sorts of extremely unspeakable images.

Yeah, I love your Doctor/Jamie-ness, 'tis a wonderful thing. and SO CANON. I saw one clip of them together and just knew they were together. Oh yes, all my friends save one think I'm kinda weird for liking "that sort of stuff". The save one however is more than happy to spend hours talking to me about every slash possibilty in the universe. I has good friends. And I am glad people online and on the other side of the world share my love for Doctor/Jamie as well. I was starting to get very lonely!!

You're obviously having fun drawing those emoticon sketches. (And don't we just love looking at them.) Any chance that you might turn them into a comic, avec dialogue?

Right, and another question: can one "watch" Evil of the Daleks? If so, I want in on this!

ladyyatexel In reply to AdAbsurdum [2010-05-13 07:24:11 +0000 UTC]

There's a few more in the emote-series, colored even! My tablet has just died and I can't finish it. Perhaps a comic, hmmm. There may be a chance.

It's not 'watchable' really in any form but reconstructions, which was how I 'saw' it. I've seen a few and along with the transcripts, the story is beautiful and makes my heart sing. Jamie is amazing in it. His arguing with the Doctor is sort of beautiful.

Oh dear. Technology - odi et amo. Ain't it a bitch?
I eagerly await their advent! And a comic, if only a little one, would be lovely, and I'm prepared to whine, grovel and beg.
At any rate, you've made me want to dig out my old Two/Jamie doodlings and draw some more of them.

*sigh* I guess I'll track down a recon, then. It sounds like it's definitely worth my while.
I live in hope they'll find copies of the lost serials stashed away in some janitor's closet in Brazil or somesuch place. I can't believe the BBC was so shortsighted in the 60s!

Hey, inspiring more Two and Jamie people is definitely a good outcome of having been rendered tabletless. I can deal with this. I can also deal with grovelling and will hopefully be able to comic at you soon!

It really is. My heart leaps for Jamie every time. Evil of the Daleks is really an excellent story. It's one of my favorites, and it's mostly missing.

Someone's writing fanfic! A dire situation indeed! *rolls over laughing*

...that makeout thing does not seem an idle threat, with Jamie.

It doesn't surprise me that those two look great in 60's Barbie fashion; they've got the right faces for that era, if that makes sense. Considering where I live, I can't begrudge you any Hairspray refs though.

My favorites on this page are the black-and-white drawings; not just for the resemblances this time but also the expressions. If one were somehow able to peel them out of the footage I've seen and put them in that situation, I think that's EXACTLY how they'd look.

And the "<3!" Daleks crack me up.

So. Your sketch book is digital? I am jealous.

These are adorable, the little <3 ? ones especially. Awww, Jamie. Also, I totally knew where the Doctor and the Daleks were from, omg, so cute, ahahahahahaha. Who would think that of Daleks, only THEY SO ARE OMG.

And, oh haaaaay Polly. Ben must be very jealous somewhere, dressed up as Skipper no less.

ladyyatexel In reply to vandonovan [2010-03-27 18:39:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I admit to feeling a little extra pleased when you think this madness is cute. It's like all the time I waste becomes worth it!

I do a lot of shit lately that I think I SHOULD be doing in my sketchbook digitally, but I have a real one. I swear. It's just got a bunch of snarky Turlough doodles and Surprise!Kali everywhere and isn't that exciting to look at online. Upon further reflection, I can't believe I didn't put the one of Jamie jumping in to keep the Doctor away from a toaster, though.

I kind of always think the Daleks are adorable, for some reason. So three of them wanting to play and chanting about being dizzy just killed me dead. I was dead from adorable, seriously.

Yeeeah, I could have drawn Ben with her, but Jamie had the proper hair (the original outfit actually came with a wig to give Ken Beatles hair!)and... um, *Jamie*. Really, though, Ken got seriously shafted by the 60s and it was hard to find something even *this* funky, so I couldn't have made something good enough for Ben unless I had him in uniform. Meanwhile Barbie got the hottest, shiniest, plastic-iest, mod-est, most happening outfits ever. I actually ended up drawing this because I've got a reproduction of a doll from that era, and aside from Polly being blonde and my doll being a red-head, they look so alike it is eerie. I have to do a drawing of Polly and Ben dressed as Barbie and Ken now though, because the name similarity, and even the LOOK similarity, is cracking me up.

You totally have to post Jamie saving the Doctor from the toaster later. Perhaps you're just waiting to have more toaster pictures to post it with. Hopefully Jamie doesn't stick his sgian dubh into it though, or else he'll get electrocuted. (Though if he survived that, then he'll really fear the power of the toaster, omg.)

I used to always think Daleks were terrifying, and then I met one at a filming for a thing I did for PBS and the guy inside kept using a K-9 voice instead, so. Now they're just cute little silly things to me. Well, and New Who had run them into the ground so horribly they're just annoying.

Ben and Polly just get shafted so often, Ben especially, and I adore them both. So I'd love to see mod-tastic Ben and Polly drawings from you, in Barbie fashions or not. XD

ladyyatexel In reply to vandonovan [2010-03-27 22:17:42 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, I was thinking of having him experience a bit of a shock from attacking the toaster, and then being all, "I KNEW IT WAS EVIL! >" but having never been shocked by a toaster before, I don't know how bad it would be/what it would do to you, and I need some realism in my doodles, dammit!

Yeeeah, New Who got a bit Dalek-happy. I actually have a friend who is just being introduced to what a Dalek IS by way of me chattering about Who-stuff so often and she thinks they're the dumbest things to be scared of ever, just based on how they look. I tried to explain their world view, and that seems to have helped a bit. I really love hearing outtake-y stuff with the Dalek guys, like hearing them swear or sing. It's awesome.

I'd love to do some Ben and Polly being all sixties for sure. I really love them, I thought they were really fun. There's several lady companions I want to draw - Susan, Polly, Victoria and Leela spring to mind immediately - because some of the Doctor's ladies are either lovely, dressed fantastically, or both! Gotta wait till I actually SEE Leela to do her, but still.

I've never stuck anything into a toaster to be shocked before either, but I can definitely see him doing so, ahahahaah. I'll forgive you if your doodle isn't exactly accurate. XD

Daleks DO look sort of ridiculous, it's true. But that's also part of what makes them so terrifying to me, actually. I look at Darth Maul or something that was clearly intended to be OMG TERRIFYING and just laugh at how stupid it looks because it's SO over the top. Daleks are just awesome.

Heee, Ben and Polly, glee. I am sort of obsessed with the 60s/70s, so very very yay. And Leela of course, oh. Yay. Looking forward to all that.

This is when your offer for pose reference can come in handy. Go stick something in the toaster in costume for me and then report back. FOR SCIENCE, VAN.

Part of Dalek-charm is definitely that they look so goofy. When something that silly looking wipes out a whole planet, it's sort of ultra terrifying.

Yay, I'm glad you like Ben and Polly too! There will be more than one person enjoying my drawings of them! Whoo!
